We were lucky to catch up with Daisy Fuentes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daisy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
There are moments when I catch myself thinking, my life would be so much easier if I just got a regular job. There’s something comforting about knowing exactly when you clock in, when you clock out, and that a steady paycheck is coming. You’re given a role, clear expectations, and you simply do what’s assigned. There’s less mental weight. Less pressure. Less constant decision-making.
As a business owner, the pressure never really turns off. I’m constantly reinventing myself , learning new skills, upgrading my knowledge, investing in better equipment, improving my services, and pushing myself to grow. There’s no ceiling, but there’s also no off switch. The responsibility, the risk, and the expectations all sit on my shoulders. And sometimes I think, what if I just worked a job, made my money, and saved it? How much simpler would that be?
But every time I go down that path, something inside of me won’t let me stay there.
I’ve realized I’m not wired for comfort , I’m wired for impact. There’s a deeper pull in me that refuses to settle for basic or predictable. I know I’m meant to build something bigger than just a paycheck. I’m meant to create opportunities, tell stories, bring visions to life, and show other women , especially moms and entrepreneurs , what’s possible when you don’t quit on your calling.
So yes, entrepreneurship is heavier. It requires more risk, more growth, more investment, and more faith.
But the freedom, the purpose, and the impact on the other side make the cost worth paying — every single time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the founder of Social Empire Marketing, a creative agency that helps entrepreneurs and small business owners grow their brands through strategic social media and high-quality content. We specialize in social media management, VIP Content Days, brand strategy, and cinematic photo and video production designed to help businesses show up professionally, consistently, and with purpose. Our clients come to us when they know they have a strong service or product but need support turning their vision into content that actually attracts clients and drives growth.
What sets Social Empire apart is our focus on both strategy and storytelling. We don’t just create content to fill a feed — we create intentional visuals and messaging that position our clients as the authority in their industry and help them stand out in a crowded market. I’m most proud of the results our clients experience when their online presence finally reflects the level of their business. The heart of our brand is helping entrepreneurs turn their vision into visibility and build a digital presence that supports long-term growth and impact.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my journey happened when I shifted from focusing on building my personal brand and promoting other companies to helping business owners grow their own brands. In the beginning, I was creating content primarily for myself and collaborating with brands, but I started noticing something — other entrepreneurs were asking how I was creating my content, how I was showing up consistently, and how I was growing my presence. That’s when I realized the real opportunity wasn’t just in building my own platform, but in using my skills to help others bring their vision to life.
Once I made that shift and began offering content creation, social media strategy, and brand support for businesses, everything changed. Not only did the business grow quickly, but I found a deeper level of fulfillment in the work. There’s something powerful about helping someone else gain confidence in their brand, attract new clients, and see their vision come to life online. That pivot allowed me to move from simply creating content to building a business centered around impact, and it’s what ultimately shaped Social Empire Marketing into what it is today.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn is the belief that I had to overwork, overdeliver, and undercharge to prove my value. Early in my business, I said yes to everything, lowered my prices, and gave far more than what clients were paying for because I was operating from a place of survival. There was a constant fear that if I didn’t do more or charge less, the opportunity might not come again. I believed my worth had to be earned through exhaustion and being available for everything.
Over time, I realized that mindset was rooted in scarcity and it was actually limiting my growth. I had to unlearn the idea that being busy meant being successful and instead step into confidence around my expertise, my pricing, and my boundaries. The shift happened when I began building my business from a place of value and sustainability instead of fear. Learning to trust my skills, charge accordingly, and create structure around my services allowed me to grow into a more profitable and scalable business that supports both my clients and my long term vision.
