Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Grayson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine , appreciate you joining us today. Would you say you are more focused on growing revenue or cutting costs? We’d love to hear how you think about these two critical drivers
That’s a good question! The goal is to always grow revenue. Who doesn’t want that but as I’m expanding my Private Suite Base Salon cutting costs is necessary. You have to learn how to have a budget and stay within that budget. I would want to keep my expenses as low as possible and still provide my clients with great products and services.
I believe to grow your revenue you have to cut cost. Cutting cost can be as simple as me buying in bulk, once a year. Since I decide to buy in bulk, I’ve now saved $100 off that item. Cutting Cost and growing revenue goes hand in hand… you can’t succeed in one without involving the other.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name Is Jasmine Grayson Ceo of JGrays Hair Studio located at 380 Powell Mill Road Suite A Spartanburg, Sc. JGrays Hair Studio is a private suite base salon. Providing private one on one experience with your Beauty Professional. I’m a mother of two Peyton (son) and Paisley (daugther). Growing up I was always doing hair. I just love the fact that you can change the way a person fells just by fixing their hair and having good conversation.
I love doing hair. You get to meet so many different people, travel, and there is endless education. Techniques change almost every day. You can learn a technique one day and the next day someone has a better way to achieving the same look in a quicker time or with better products.
My top services are sewin installs, wig installs, blowouts, loc retwist, hair care treatments.
Hair growth is the first goal in all services.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is to focus on the client that is in my chair. I give my client the attention they need and treat them how I would want to be treated. Clients love to feel loved and appreciated. That’s where the word of mouth begin.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes! Side hustles do turn into a career. After 9 years of working at Walmart, I decide to quit and turn my side hustle into a career. I would be working at Walmart and making hair appointment at the same time. I always felt like I needed to work at Walmart to understand customer service. It also helped me with inventory and sales planning.
