We were lucky to catch up with Herbert Alvarez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Herbert, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
10 thousand hours of being immersed in sports and fitness it’s always been my life I love to be active I love to perform under pressure I love competition. So being able to write a song about fitness it flowed so easy because that’s something I’m doing unconsciously at this point just way of life. Showing up is the most important thing honestly not everyday is peachy so sometimes just making it to the destination is the hardest part but once your there it’s on! I stood in my own way at times being in the wrong crowd around the wrong people that didn’t want to see growth in me. Having a legit schedule that nothing can interrupt is what really made me a beast.

Herbert, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Grind4itt has been something I used to write on the back of football pads since high school. That was my personal mantra, it led me to believe that I could accomplish anything I put my mind to regardless of any obstacles I would encounter along the way. And believe me, I encountered plenty. I went from being expelled from 8th grade and missing half of my 9th grade year in public school. Even in the mist of the that, I knew I was going to get my high school diploma. The fact that I missed the first year of high school sports and being behind academically along with older than the majority of my classmates, I knew that the Grind for “IT” stood for my focus on my academics, my hard work in the gym, and my mental toughness. This was where Grind4IT was born. I graduated high school, got a scholarship to college, play college football , and be the first in my family to get their college degree in business administration. After playing pro arena football, I was able to come home and coach high school football and that’s where I found a calling for mentoring the youth. The love I thought I lost from not playing a team sport I gained it back from pouring into the youth that that were pursuing the same dream I was. Now with Grind4IT being a fitness brand, it embodies falling and getting back up with purpose. Anyone that I trained, I was always a trainer/mentor helping not only getting your body stronger but your mind and spirit as well. As the brand grows, it’s just not health but was wealth. I am life insurance produce, I feel very strongly about teaching financial literacy within my community. Most of the time it is a lack of knowledge. They do not realize the importance of it. And it’s has become another “IT” in the Grind.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
To inspire others! I feel like you can accomplish great things in life to reach the highest peaks if along the way you never spark a fire in the next generations or someone your age to the same or go further than you with righteous intentions then you’re missing the message of grinding for something bigger than yourself.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Creating a health and wealth facility that not only people can come for community, sports, seminars, and daycares all wrapped in one.
