We recently connected with Jill Karlin and have shared our conversation below.
Jill, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
E K O T E C T U R E…My life work … Building a sustainable future for humanity while cultivating a harmonious relationship with each other and our mother earth. My late husband was “The Father of Environmental Architecture and bestowed me with this legacy for the human race. For 34 years I have been championing a way to live on earth without burning anything… E K O T E C T U R E.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I believe I already answered all these questions a month ago….I met Lee Porter Butler…The father of Environmental Architecture…He taught me everything… Our mission is to rebuild planet earth in a harmonious, kind, beautiful way based on the core principles of E K O T E C T U R E.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The Father and Mother of Environmental Architecture were homeless in the woods of California during the ENRON scandal preaching the gospel of how to live sustainably on the planet. We were living in a burned out redwood cabin in the redwood forrest, cooking on an open fire…no running water…teaching people how to live in comfort and safety. What an adventure. That is just one episode in this crazy true story. I will be performing the love story in spoken word at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 25-29 at Surgeon’s Hall Theatre 3.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal and the mission is to rebuild the planet based on E K O T E C T U R E. buildings that take nothing from earth, air or water in their operation and take care of all their own resources including lights, gas, water, waste management and food production all while protecting the lives of the folks inhabing the building no matter what the external conditions including earthquake , flood, fire, hurricane…..
