We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Travis Ware a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Travis, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Shoutout to my mother Sonya Irby and to my father, who I’m named after, Travis Ware, Sr. who often tells me who is the original and I’m just a carbon copy of him hahaha. But my parents knew at a very young age that I was gifted and talented. Though-out middle and high school I would leave throughout the school day and go to another school where it’s was dedicated for students wanting to pursue a career in the arts. My parents had me in plays, the choir at church, etc. my first television show that I was on I was 16 years old. They also had me participating in summer program where I would go live on college campuses to prepare myself for college. So they truly did support my dreams.

Travis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a television personality that was on many reality shows and talk shows such as TSWDFL (Season 1-3), Chasing Atlanta (Season 4), The Group Chat (Seasons 1-2), Ms. Pat Settles It (Season 2) on BET, Cooking Sessions with Tamar and Ms. E (Season 2) on Cleo TV…….omg the list goes on haha. . I currently also am the social media manager for a few celebrities and influencers full time and currently filming another reality show that has been full of twists and surprises. I’m most grateful that over these years that I have remain relevant and memorable. It still surprises me when folks walk up to me and can quote something I said from a show from years ago.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Learn that we are not in competition with each other. Learn that it’s room at the table for everyone to eat and win. Once we get past that point and realize that that’s when we all can win. Often times folks don’t want to support because they fear that their light will be taken away and that’s not the case. Your light is your light and my light is my light and together we can brighten up the room even more.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My ultimate goal on the journey is to eventually have my own television network channel. I have a ton of my work to put in but I know one day I’m going to get there. I want a network channel that’s dedicated to the folks who were told no but continued to go forward in their craft without giving up. Those the folks that I want.
