We were lucky to catch up with Heather Noll recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Heather thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Opening my own practice started with a mix of passion and courage. I had spent years working in medicine and aesthetics and realized what I loved most was helping patients feel confident in their skin through thoughtful, results-driven treatments. Over time, I started envisioning a space where patient education, advanced technology and personalized care were truly the focus. That vision ultimately became The Skinnovation Studio.
The early days involved a lot of planning and learning. As a clinician, the medical side felt familiar, but building a business required learning an entirely new skill set – compliance, marketing, operations, budgeting, and leadership.
One of the biggest challenges, which I continue to face as a solo practice owner, is wearing every hat. I am simultaneously the provider, marketer, receptionist, inventory manager, and CEO. Another challenge has been learning to trust my instincts when making major investments – whether that is equipment, technology, or branding.
There’s an emotional component to entrepreneurship. Starting something from scratch can feel vulnerable because your name and reputation are attached to every decision.
My biggest advice for young professionals considering starting a practice would be start with your “why.” If you are clear on the type of patient experience and outcomes you want to create, it helps guide every decision moving forward.
A few other lessons I’ve learned:
-Invest in education and mentorship
-Be thoughtful about the technology and services you introduce
-Build genuine relationships with your patients and community
-Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks
Most importantly, remember that growth takes time. Focus on delivering exceptional care and the right patients will find you.
Opening my practice has been one of the most challenging things I’ve done professionally, but it has also been the most rewarding. Seeing patients feel more confident and watching the practice grow within the community makes every step of the journey worth it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Heather Noll, and I’m a Nurse Practitioner and the founder of The Skinnovation Studio, a medical aesthetics practice focused on results-driven, science-backed skin treatments. My background in medicine naturally led me to aesthetics because it blends clinical expertise with artistry and allows me to help patients feel confident in their own skin.
At The Skinnovation Studio, we offer a variety of services including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and advanced skin treatments designed to improve skin health, texture, and overall appearance. I’m particularly passionate about treatments that stimulate the body’s natural regenerative processes and deliver meaningful, long-term results.
What sets our practice apart is our personalized approach. I prioritize patient education and thoughtful consultations so each treatment plan is tailored to the individual. My recommendations are always based on what will truly benefit the patient rather than simply adding services.
What I’m most proud of since opening The Skinnovation Studio is the community that has grown around it. My goal has always been to create a welcoming space where patients feel heard, supported, and confident in the care they receive.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Success in this field takes much more than clinical training and technical skill. I believe one of the most important factors is the ability to truly listen to patients and understand their goals. Aesthetic medicine is very personal, and building trust is essential. When patients feel heard and understood, it allows you to create treatment plans that are thoughtful, realistic, and aligned with what will make them feel most confident.
I also think adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning are key. The aesthetics industry evolves quickly with new technologies, treatments, and techniques, so staying curious and open to growth is incredibly important.
Lastly, having a strong sense of integrity goes a long way. Patients rely on you for honest guidance, and long-term success comes from recommending what is truly in their best interest rather than simply offering more treatments. When you focus on delivering natural, meaningful results and building genuine relationships, everything else tends to follow.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes, without hesitation. If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same specialty. Aesthetic medicine allows me to combine my medical training with creativity while making a meaningful impact on how people feel about themselves. I love that it’s a field where science, technology, and artistry all come together.
What makes it especially rewarding is the relationships I build with patients over time. Helping someone feel more confident in their skin can have a real ripple effect in their life, and being part of that transformation is incredibly fulfilling.
It’s also a field that is constantly evolving, which keeps it exciting. There are always new technologies, treatments, and techniques emerging, so there’s endless opportunity to continue learning and improving. For me, it’s the perfect balance of medicine, innovation, and patient connection.
