We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Strumner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Hannah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue songwriting professionally was back in 2020. I always loved creating music but I didn’t know it was going to become a career path and not just a hobby for me. In September of 2019, I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes, it was a huge change for me, my whole world felt different and I turned so much to songwriting during that time. A lot of things were a blur for me, especially when COVID-19 came around, but that was when I began to livestream and saw a whole world online to share my music to.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a songwritier singer from the United States. I was born originally in Burbank, California and moved a few years back to Idaho! I am a songwriter and singer, and I am most proud of recording and writing music in Nashville and sharing it with friends and supporters online!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think back in 2020, I had gotten contacted by a great producer in Nashville. I wasn’t able to go down there because COVID-19 began spreading. Instead, I got to record vocals here in a studio in Idaho which was such a great experience – little did I know my producer in Idaho would have produced my very first album that I released back in 2022. At the time I was disappointed in not being able to go, but it really was a gift in meeting incredible people passionate about music.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Consistency and perseverance are truly key when it comes to music and just anything artistic, especially. I think it is easy to give up if you don’t write a song the way you want to, or are trying to get a singing technique down, but truly doing your very best and moving forward really helps you in the long run. You do not know how far you will go if you do not try, and especially do not give up on your passions, they are them for a reason!
