Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Guadalupe Vasquez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Guadalupe , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my series of “no me toques” creations. I created “no me toques” as a painting first then I created a 3d version of the painting into a ceramics sculpture. This piece reflects my personal experiences, growth, and resilience. Art has always been a way for me to process emotions and tell stories that are difficult to express with words. This project was created during a time when I was reflecting on my past, the challenges I’ve faced, and the person I’ve become.
This piece reminds me that even painful or complicated moments can be turned into something beautiful and impactful. It represents healing, self-expression, and the power of art to create connection.

Guadalupe , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Guadalupe Vasquez. I am a Chicana interdisciplinary artist born and raised in Oxnard. I got my BA in Studio Art from CSU Channel Islands in 2024 and have been an integral member of the art community having showcased in over 50 shows between 2016-2026, curating 5 of them. My work has been featured in galleries such as Open Door Studio, the Hall of Administration building, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, and many more.
My process always begins with a sketch whether that becomes a drawing, painting, digital piece, or ceramic work. My concepts originate from my thoughts and imagination which I then develop by drawing inspiration from nature, my surroundings, and my personal life experiences. This combination of internal reflection and external influence allows each piece to evolve organically while still staying connected to my identity and perspective.
My artwork is inspired by my identity as a Chicanx woman and the experiences that have shaped me growing up in Oxnard. I was surrounded by street art and found inspiration in its raw form. I channel that energy into my art. I draw from my personal journey, cultural roots, and the challenges I have faced transitioning from adolescence into adulthood.
Being a mother is also a central influence in my work, shaping my perspective on strength, care, vulnerability, and growth. My work reflects resilience , healing, and self-discovery, as art has become a way for me to process my emotions and reconnect with my Latin heritage. My work reclaims the female body as a site of identity, resistance, and empowerment, challenging objectification while celebrating authenticity and Chicanx resiliency.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to bring ideas to life and create something that reflects who I am. It’s especially rewarding when someone connects with my work or finds meaning in it, because it reminds me that art has the power to communicate, inspire, and bring people together.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
A big goal driving my creative journey is building a life where creativity supports my independence. One day, I’d love to own my own home and run a successful creative business from it.
My goal is to build a creative community while doing what I love and creating opportunities for others to express themselves as well.
I want it to be a space where creativity thrives, people can come together, to connect, create, collaborate, learn and feel inspired.
