We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dave Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dave, thanks for joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
People dont see the work that goes on behind the scenes so alot of people dont realize what it takes to run a record label. Everyone only sees dates for possible shows and then poof the show day is here. They dont see the texts and phone calls and networking and meetings and getting logistics and details of the day and for the day of the show and trying to find other bands who would like to participate in the show. There really is alot into doing what i do.

Dave, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My mother is the reason i got into the industry, When i was young she always listened to music, some i liked, some not so much but, she had a game she played and would ask what the name of the song was and who was it performed by and what albumn was it on and sometimes what year did it come out. I loves it. I miss it and her as she passed some years ago from pulmonary Embolism at 47 years old. Any way as i got into my 20’s i was bouncing at local clubs and bars and always had live music in the clubs. I always forgot why i was there, to work, but at one point i knew i wanted to be in the industry. In 1997 i started promoting and managing bands with the appeal of making things easier for a band as i would set up shows and tours for them, all they had to do was concentrate on making music. I loved it, setting them up and the band putting it down. It was bery good to me but i craved more so in 2019 i went to school for audio production so i could learn to record, mix, master and distribute the music. So since i got both sides of the business i decided the company needed a name chamge because it became more involved. Biohazardous Music Promotions grew into Biohazardous Records LLC. In 2021. People found out and bands from all across the U.S. contacted me within 6 months i had 13 signed to the label and became very busy. I brought in a partner to help run it. My brother, my best friend, John Mayhew , vocalist of Slokill.. and up to date 2026 we have had Nearly 25 bands and artists on the label weve been to over 200 venues for shows and have worked with nearly 1000 bands. In 2025 John was given a portal for distribution by Whomag? For Sony after we ran a music festival in new jersey and we killed it.. Biohazardous Records has now glues together a group of promoters, managers, pod casters and a venue owner.. Biohazardous Records, Slokilla Records, Skullface Records, We want moore entertainment and L.O.A as an umbrella group called The Collective.

Have you ever had to pivot?
The. Biggest pivot dor me was to learn its not about the rush of money and fame to making family and helping everyone eat. The reat will comw in time.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To help out an artist is to buy, share, listen, and support the artists that you enjoy. Buy merch and talk to people about music and attend shows and concerts.
