We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daniel And Jill Siegel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel and Jill , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The story of LAVISH kitchen + bath actually started with us providing full-service custom closets and other luxury spaces since we already owned California Closets of the Texas Hill Country, and became the go-to company for those services in the Central and South Texas regions. For years, we were already experts in transforming some of the most personal spaces in people’s homes, so we got very good at listening. What we kept hearing was: “Can you also do our kitchen or bathroom cabinetry as well?” Clients who trusted us with their closets wanted that same precision and intentionality applied to the rooms where they actually lived, where they cooked dinner, or were winding down at the end of the day.
Our curiosity about expanding our services didn’t stop, so we made a decision that changed everything: we went back to school, so to speak. We immersed ourselves completely in the world of cabinetry and home design–construction methods, European manufacturing standards, unique material sourcing, specialty hardware systems for these spaces, and specific installation details. We wanted to understand it from the inside out, the way a craftsman does, because we’re hands-on throughout the entire process, and that’s the level of service and quality our clients know us for. We spent years doing kitchen and bath work when asked alongside our California Closets business, refining our process and our eye before we officially launched LAVISH kitchen + bath.
In 2016, we decided the work had grown into something that deserved its own identity. That’s when LAVISH kitchen + bath was officially born. It was the culmination of years of listening to clients, studying design, and holding ourselves to a standard we weren’t willing to compromise. We opened our first LAVISH showroom in Austin, and the next chapter is in San Antonio this summer with dual showrooms of LAVISH alongside California Closets of the Texas Hill Country, side by side, the way the businesses were always meant to be experienced. It feels like the full expression of everything we’ve been building toward.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
We’re co-owners and a husband and wife team, Jill serving as Chief Inspiration Officer and Daniel as CEO, of LAVISH kitchen + bath. Together, we also own California Closets of the Texas Hill Country. Between our two businesses, we’ve spent nearly two decades helping people make their homes feel intentional, functional, and genuinely beautiful. Having both really allows us to serve our client’s whole home needs.
LAVISH specializes in bespoke European cabinetry for kitchens and baths. But what we’re really doing is transforming how people experience their daily lives at home. A kitchen is where the rhythm of your household plays out every single morning. A bathroom is more than just functional, but where you begin and end each day. When those spaces are designed with care and real intention, everything feels different.
We bring the best in global design trends and products while keeping manufacturing local. All of our materials are sourced from the latest premium European and North American suppliers and crafted locally in Central Texas. This allows us to offer clients a full suite of materials, finishes, and organizational systems. The entire process from design, sourcing and installation is coordinated by us, so clients experience a seamless, turnkey journey from concept to completion. We like to refer to our services as an exuberant client experience–leaving our clients energized through process as opposed to drained.
What sets us apart is a combination of two things that can be challenging to find in the luxury home design industry: design fluency and construction quality. We think deeply about how people actually live. We see how they cook, how they move, what frustrates or delights them about their living spaces.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Reputation in this industry is built in the quiet moments, not the grand ones. It’s built when a client emails you six months after installation to say their kitchen still feels like the first day. It’s built when a designer refers you to their most discerning client because they know you won’t let them down. It’s built project by project, detail by detail.
For us, two things have been foundational. The first is our commitment to the full picture, design and execution. A lot of firms are strong on one side or the other. We’ve worked hard to be excellent at both. Clients shouldn’t have to choose between a space that looks extraordinary and one that actually functions beautifully in real life. We refuse to let them make that compromise.
The second is our deep roots in the Austin and San Antonio design communities. Because we’ve also owned California Closets of the Texas Hill Country for the last 19 years, we’ve been embedded in the local design and construction ecosystem for nearly two decades. Architects, interior designers and builders know us. They’ve seen our work up close. That professional trust has been enormously generative, and it’s something we’ve worked hard to sustain through consistency and integrity.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
We’re adamant about delivering an experience that clients feel is unique to them, and that they feel compelled to share with those they love.
The majority of our growth and reputation is from past and current client referrals, but it has always been critical for us to stay active in the marketing building new relationships as our area has expanded. Local custom builders and real estate developers working in the luxury residential market have also been key. We’re trusted with some of the most important spaces in homes, so it’s our highest priority to exceed expectations and bring clients joy. Over the years it’s a momentum we’ve built by word of mouth, so we’re quite protective of it.
Positioning ourselves in an intentional way with a clear point of view has been important. We work with homeowners and high-end trade partners who value craftsmanship and sustainability above all, so it’s important to lead with that clarity. Staying true to that has led us to continue attracting the right clients.
