We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cecilia Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cecilia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My mom is a burlesque dancer, and she has always pushed me to pursue my creative endeavors. She is someone who embodies “doing it all” and is a great inspiration to me. She has worked at non-profits throughout my youth while co-producing the only burlesque show with a live jazz band in the Twin Cities, and like her, I also want to both help people and pursue my creative dreams!

Cecilia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been acting since I was a kid, doing musical theater and community plays. This passion has grown to me doing short films, feature films, and commercial acting, too. In doing all of this, I also work three other jobs, run a blog, and more. In doing all of this, I’ve realized that you truly can do it all but not always all at once.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I really love the podcast Good Hang. Often, Amy Poehler interviews different actors or creatives, and it’s so inspiring to hear how they got to where they are today. Additionally, I loved Jenna Fischer’s book. I found that it had a lot great tips and insights on the industry while still being engaging.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I think it’s so important to put an emphasis on community as a creative. It’s important to attend those community events, network, and more. So many opportunities can come from building a strong community and making friends in the industry.
