We recently connected with Brittney Marie Darling and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney Marie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I don’t think it was one defining moment, but I do remember a pivotal spark when I watched Lauren Conrad’s New York Fashion Week show online. I was drawn in by the beauty of the pieces and the intention behind the designs, and it made me want to respond creatively. That moment led me to start blogging, not just to showcase style but to tell a story through it. I have always been someone who notices the details and the emotion behind how things are presented, and blogging became a natural extension of that perspective.
As I stepped into that space more intentionally, I realized there was a deeper purpose behind it. As a plus sized woman, I did not always see myself reflected in the fashion world the way I experienced it, and that pushed me to show up not just as a creator but as representation. What started as inspiration grew into something more meaningful, a platform rooted in beauty, lifestyle, and inclusivity. Over time, that creativity expanded beyond content and evolved into my entrepreneurial endeavors, shaping the way I approach branding, storytelling, and the businesses and ideas I continue to build. Through different seasons of life, creativity has remained a constant for me, becoming more refined, more honest, and more intentional, and that is when I knew this was not just something I loved but something I was meant to pursue.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger and creative with over a decade of experience building a brand defined by vision, refinement, and inclusivity. I entered the industry through blogging, inspired to create a space where style could feel both aspirational and whimsical. Over the years, that approach has led to collaborations with major publications such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue and Women’s Health as well as partnerships with luxury houses including Versace, Burberry, and Dior In addition, I have worked in branding, marketing, and public relations for celebrity clientele, shaping their public presence and positioning them in ways that resonate with their audience and fan base. This combination of creative insight and strategic experience allows me to craft work that is both distinctive and polished.
Beyond digital and editorial work, I am a certified tea sommelier, tea brand owner, and afternoon tea and etiquette consultant specializing in afternoon tea experiences. I have future plans to open a tea room, alongside expanding my brand to feature vintage pieces sourced from France and carefully curated teaware and lifestyle items. What sets me apart is my ability to merge aesthetic, design, and experience into a cohesive, elevated approach. I am most proud of building a brand that reflects sophistication, authenticity, and vision. Looking ahead, I plan to continue growing my influence in the luxury and lifestyle space through editorial writing, publishing books, and creating new spaces for connection and inspiration, whether through blogging, my Substack, or lifestyle content across my Instagram platforms focused on fashion, home décor, and daily living.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I once heard Anna Wintour say that there is no need to rush, that taking the time to educate yourself is the way to become the best in your craft. That advice has stayed with me and came to life during a pivotal moment in my career. Early on, I had plans to launch a business, but I realized that true success isn’t about moving quickly it’s about being fully prepared to create something meaningful and lasting. I chose to invest in my education, refine my skills, and deepen my knowledge before taking the leap. That decision required patience and the courage to pivot from a path that might have brought faster results but not lasting impact.
Slowing down and approaching my business with intention allowed me to build a brand rooted in expertise, authenticity, and vision. By prioritizing preparation and long term strategy over immediate gratification, I set the foundation for something that could be part of my legacy. That experience reinforced the power of patience, discernment, and persistence, and reminded me that the most significant pivots aren’t reactive they are deliberate steps toward building something truly exceptional.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to create work that has real value for others. I love sharing tips, insights, and guidance that people can use in their own lives, and I take joy in living authentically so that others feel inspired to embrace their own voice, their own style, and their own confidence. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about showing that we all have God-given gifts to share with the world.
I also love creating from my dreams and passions drawing inspiration from fashion, films, and other moments that have moved me. I find joy in crafting experiences that celebrate femininity, whimsy, and imagination, and in turning what inspires me into something tangible that others can enjoy, connect with, and feel encouraged by. For me, creativity is both a gift and a responsibility, a way to uplift others while honoring my own unique perspective and artistic vision.
