We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brit a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brit, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I’ve made about 11 cents from my music so far, so I’m not earning a full-time living from it yet. I would love to be able to support myself through singing and creating music while pursuing my dream; that would be amazing. I do know that I am really fortunate to have people who have supported me while I work toward that, and I want to make the most of that opportunity.
Right now, I’m preparing my live streaming setup for my socials, which feels like a meaningful step toward everything I’ve been working for. At the end of the day, I get to do what I love and that will always be more than enough for me.
One of the biggest milestones I’ve had to overcome is myself. I’ve always been a perfectionist and can be very hard on myself, and getting past the fear of failure hasn’t been easy. I do think that held me back at times, but I’m really hopeful and excited about the future of my music and where this journey will take me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I think I’ve always known that I was supposed to be doing my thing up there on a stage, and I think when something is meant for you, it will happen. I played my first (very small) live event in South Carolina, and I never thought I would be able to have that opportunity. Last year, I released my very first single. It was more of an experiment and I put most of it together in the same day, but I was so excited to have something out there that was completely my own. As my sound grows, it still traces back to the girl who decided she wasn’t giving up when all of that seemed impossible.
Right now I have my single, “fallen angel” out on most main streaming platforms, including Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Youtube Music, and more. I’m getting ready to start working on new music soon, and I’m really excited to explore and discover the kind of sound I really want to create. I’m looking forward to growing into my artistry and seeing where my music and brand go from here.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think the best thing we can do for each other in this world is to understand each other. There is a lot going on right now, and most of it stems from an inability or an unwillingness to see past ourselves. When it comes to supporting artists and creatives, that understanding is everything. Art is often a reflection of someone’s most personal experiences, and when we take the time to really listen and connect with it, we create space for those voices to be heard and valued.
Supporting a thriving creative ecosystem also means showing up: whether that’s engaging with someone’s work, sharing it, or simply encouraging them to keep going. Small acts of support can make a huge difference, especially for independent artists who are building something from the ground up. When we choose to support creativity, we’re choosing to support expression, connection, and the stories that bring us closer together.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main goal is to create music that genuinely makes people feel something. I love being able to connect with others on a deeper emotional level. For me, music is a way to share pieces of my own experiences, emotions, and stories, while also creating a space where listeners can see themselves reflected in it.
I want my music to be honest and relatable, to capture moments of love, heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery, and to remind people that they’re not alone in what they’re feeling. My mission is to keep creating and evolving in a way that resonates with people. At the heart of it all, I want to make people feel something real.
