We were lucky to catch up with Brian Gaddis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
The first private event we had we thought we had it all planned out. We were ready to go! However, our mode of transportation was not. As we tried our hardest to accelerate on the freeway, our 2002 Ford E-350 Van wasn’t having it. We finally had to throw in the towel and figure out next steps. We were tired, frustrated, and hoped this didn’t set the tone for our business. Through some help from our AWESOME friends, we made it there in time to provide a quality event. However, we did refund a portion to the customer. This taught us some valuable lessons in not only humility, but perseverance. 4 years later, and still going strong!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are DFW Metroplex Bubble Ball. The staff that lead this organization are Brian Gaddis and Jesse Johnson (both Co-Owners). We got into this industry because we saw a need for this in the DFW metroplex area. We facility experiences with our bubble suits, zorb balls, and photo booth. Our clients come to us with the problem of solving what to do at their next event. This could be a Church, school, birthday party, corporate event, or anything in between. We are set up apart from the rest by our engaging events. We lead everything from start to finish. The client doesn’t need to worry about anything. As well, we have a strong social media presence. We are proud that we have had the opportunity to get notoriety through a couple big things. We have been able to share information about our company on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas. In addition, we were afforded the opportunity of filming with the Real Housewives of Dallas. Last but certainly not least, we are proud of all of the many events we have had the pleasure of providing a fun experience for. We believe that we are emerging as a leader in our industry.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
To demonstrate integrity and consistency, we learned that sometimes we have to let our yes be yes and our no be no. We had to unlearn that we have to bend over backwards to get the sale at all costs.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
We took a chance in trimming the fat. Due to the pandemic, it was a necessity to cut costs. We decided we would not pay for Google Ads or advertisements on social media. We found that this did not affect our bottom line. In fact, our business still grew in spite of this.
