Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bonnie Kingcannon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bonnie, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began my journey in property management in 2001, right after Highschool as a leasing manager in the multifamily sector. Four years later, I was selected by my Regional Manager to oversee several distressed properties, where I successfully increased both occupancy and yearly NOI figures by 20%. This experience helped paved the way to the start of my Real Estate Career and in 2008, I did just that and obtained my Arizona Salesperson License and launching my own Residential Property Management portfolio. In 2014, I became a Branch Manager and VP of Property Management, where I spent nearly a decade building a powerhouse team, mentoring fellow property managers, and expanding my management portfolio. I obtained my Broker’s License after the pandemic and in December 2023, Thrive Realty was born.
My pride and joy is my family. I have been married to my husband David, for nearly18 years who works alongside of me in the Property Management business. Together we have three amazing children; Braylon, a high school freshman who loves basketball, and playing the drums. Our middle son, Bryson a sweet nine-year-old with autism and special needs who loves everyone he comes in contact with. And our youngest, Brynli, a spirited six-year-old who is a competitive dancer and embraces her girly side.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Customer service 100%
Entering the property management industry at just 19 taught me valuable lessons in professionalism and customer service. With high expectations from the start, I learned the importance of hard work and adaptability. Balancing my role in the apartment industry as well as side jobs at various restaurants both helped me navigate challenges, build relationships, and understand the diverse needs of the customer. These experiences instilled a strong commitment to helping others and reinforced my dedication to excellence. My motto today, is still what it was 23 years ago, “Committed To Excellence”.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One personal journey that many outside our close circle don’t know about is our son Bryson’s diagnosis of autism and developmental delay when he was just 4 years old. This diagnosis came after a sudden shift in his behavior, speech, and sleep patterns. After countless doctor visits, tests, and evaluations, we received a diagnosis we hadn’t anticipated, just a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic and the start of kindergarten.
At that time, my husband and I felt completely out of our depth, unsure of where to begin. With our faith in the Lord and the support of our family and friends, we embarked on a new journey to provide Bryson with the care and support he needed. The past four years have been some of the most challenging yet rewarding times for our family. We’ve learned so much about ourselves, the healthcare system, and what truly matters in life.
Today, Bryson is 9 years old and has just started 3rd grade. He’s THRIVING and so happy, always ready to share the sweetest cuddles. He’s fortunate to have his brother and sister as his built-in best friends, and it warms our heart to see their bond so strong.
