Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Benito Quijada. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Benito , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I started as a cinematographer professionally in 2018 when I was living in Guadalajara, then back in hometown Hermosillo back in 2021 I started working for a production company as Director of Photography and colorist, I started developing my skills for those areas and in 2022 I met my current associate to my production company and wife Magdalena Ceja and in 2023 we created Trece Co. A company for bringing to life ideas of artists and many more. We also take other projects from other creators for graphics and post production as our company is focused on production and post production.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a cinematographer who has developed lots of skills in lighting, color grading and directing too as I have been directing most of our projects. The majority of the projects I take are as cinematographer and colorist, I am always looking for a unique style or treatment, always keeping story first. I watch lots of movies so I am always with an idea or a reference for each project, that helps a lot. I provide a service as colorist with optional quick turnarounds which is pretty because of one of my workflows that helps the project reach the desire look faster.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
We’d love to help creators, directos and many other to bring their vision to life; we want to be a production company that also works as an ”incubator” for indie films as I think many indie films are more than worth to be released and they have not many support.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I worked for a mining corp that had so many brands in it, I was doing the image for all of them like hospitals, social workers, lawyers, etc. Even tho I was creating content is not one of my strengths, but I found that really helpful for keeping my business going when I was not getting much projects.
