We recently connected with B-Rock & NickatNight I.T.D and have shared our conversation below.
Hi B-Rock & NickatNight I.T.D, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
B-Rock: I wanted to pursue the creative path of podcasting professionally when I realized that I have a powerful voice and that I can help and inspire others. It all started when me and my friends got together to hang out. We were very silly but also had serious debates and discussed various topics. I always had a camera to take pictures and record us having fun but I only did it for memories. Then a suggestion was made to me for us to get together, create a format and share it with the world. I was all in.
NickatNight: I never thought about getting into podcasting. But once B-Rock brought it to my attention I was like “let’s go”.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
B-Rock: I came up with the name truth be told because I wanted a platform where men would feel comfortable with expressing themselves without any judgment. I’m big into energy so people always seem to be comfortable around me to express themselves or discuss things that they wouldn’t discuss with anybody else. So after getting into therapy myself I looked at this as a platform for therapy. I was proud when fans started to send me Dm’s saying that I helped them or that topic y’all discussed today it really hit home for me. Especially when the women started to reach out to say they really enjoyed the show or they learned a lot and to keep up the good work. I felt like I made it at that point. I also wanted to have a platform where I supported small businesses too. Black owned businesses. One thing that make us stand out from the other podcast is that we are raw and unfiltered and listening to us is not for the weak. You’re either going to love us and learn a lot or you’re going to hate us and still learn a lot. But I promise if you hate us you’re going to continue to come back to hate us some more.
NickatNight: This platform gives me the space to be me. The jokes you get from me on the show you get in real life and then some. With a background in military and law enforcement this gives me the opportunity to show people a different side of me. I want people to laugh because we need more laughs and smiles in life but I also want to educate people especially my black people when it comes to the law. Coming from where I’m from there’s a lot of us that are ignorant when it comes to the law but some of us think we know everything. Why not hear it from someone that looks like you, who relates to you and who’s out there on the line every single day. We’re not all stuck up and crazy, just fun in life.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
B-Rock: The most rewarding thing for me is the fact that I can be as crazy and creative as I want with my ideas and do it on my terms. For instance, when we first started out we will shoot promos for social media for people to come and check out the podcast. I got to act out scenes from movies, video games or even just danced on some of the promos. But the icing on the cake is when people come to me and tell me they like my creativity and they want to be a part of it. That makes me want to grind harder to give them more.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
NickatNight: Not everybody can come with you. I originally started out as a special guest on the show and ended up being part owner and co-host. When it came to the work ethic there was a difference between my drive and some of my friends drive. When it was all fun and games everyone was there but when it was all about business everyone disappeared. The time, the funds, the dedication to the craft and the sacrifices that had to be made, everybody is not built to do this. Also if people don’t share your vision the picture will look different to everyone. I had to swallow the hard pill of you can’t take everyone with you.
