Ashley , appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My business plan was born out of both necessity and vision. As a wife and mother with aspirations of attending dental school, I was juggling working full-time during the day and attending classes in the evening, all while wanting to be present for my daughter. I knew I needed a smarter, more flexible path that could support my family and keep me on a fast track toward my long term goals. I explored several options from selling hair to clothing but nothing felt aligned until I decided to invest in a lash class. What started as curiosity quickly became commitment; I practiced relentlessly until I perfected my craft. With confidence in my skills and belief in my vision, I made the leap leaving my job and fully committing to building and promoting my lash business, which ultimately became the foundation for both my financial independence and future ambitions.

I’m Ashley Sanders, owner of Lashed By Ash, where we’re “Redefining Your Eyelash Experience,” through artistry, intention, and care. We offer top-tier products and services designed to last while supporting overall optical health, including eyelash extensions, lash lifts, microshaded brows, professional lash training and certifications, and premium accessories and products for lash technicians. We’re known for the exceptional longevity and retention of our services and products, as well as the dependability of our appointment times and shipping rates. Beyond the services, we curate an elevated, welcoming vibe from the moment clients walk through our doors until their next appointment. More than a lash company, we are raising the bar and expectations of the beauty industry prioritizing client care, maintaining a clean and calming environment, and creating a space that truly feels like home. Our impact extends beyond the studio as we proudly serve and uplift the communities of Montgomery, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been creating an experience so exceptional that clients don’t want to go anywhere else. At Lashed By Ash, we focus on delivering results that spark compliments from strangers because when clients feel seen and confident, they naturally return to maintain their beauty regimen. Exceptional customer service, a clean and safe space to truly relax, and consistent reliability all play a major role in our retention. We’re intentional about knowing our products inside and out, testing everything we offer, and selecting items that are effective and relatable for diverse clients. By staying fully stocked, educating our clients, and prioritizing long-term results over quick trends, we’ve built trust and that trust is what keeps our clientele growing.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most defining moments where I had to pivot came during the COVID-19 pandemic, which reinforced the importance of adaptability in both business and life. With over 13 years as a Registered Dental Hygienist and a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, I’ve always been intentional about keeping my license active not out of fear, but out of preparedness. The pandemic and today’s economic climate taught me that no industry is immune to change, and the beauty industry is often one of the first to be impacted when people shift toward doing things themselves. Rather than seeing this as a setback, I view it as a reminder to stay flexible, grounded, and strategic. Having a solid foundation and a backup plan allows me to take bold risks in entrepreneurship while knowing I’m equipped to pivot when necessary and that balance has been key to my resilience.
