We recently connected with Amy Lynch and have shared our conversation below.
Amy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents always created things from nothing and used creativity to solve problems and wishes.
For example, my mother wished to live her whole life inside a flower garden, but…. we lived in Upstate New York with long, cold winters. So, on a massive scale, she grew flowers that dried exceptionally well and created indoor, upside-down, hanging gardens that were a veritable fairyland to grow up in.
My dad is a mechanical genius and inventor. He loves to use wood, metal, and physics for creative solutions. Once, my mother complained that it was very difficult to water her gardens because the creek was far down the hill. Dad solved the problem by creating something called Roger Ram Jet that transported water uphill with no pump and using no power. He now gravity feeds water uphill to her garden. Whenever he explains how it works, we declare it to be impossible! Yet, Roger Ram Jet is still in operation today.
I learned to do the same. After reading the British classics steadily for fifteen years, I complained that there were no more. I couldn’t give up on something that gave me so much pleasure, so I wrote one. It is titled Fernling (hence, the name of my business is Fernling Creative). That was my launch into serious writing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Writing has always been part of me. First, it was novels—just for fun. Then, I began ghostwriting for others; this may be what I do best. I love writing with others because I help people’s dreams come true (they love me for life!). Also, I know that words sell everything—prestige, ideas, influence, products, services, and brands. Words are powerful. They make us feel. They make us think. They make us act. Fernling Creative exists because words change everything.
My clients are high-level professionals who wish to write books, blogs, or LinkedIn content that serves to expand their influence, establish them as thought leaders, offer companion content to speaking engagements, support consulting clients, or as legacy projects. It is not reasonable to expect individuals who are experts in their industries to also be expert book authors and content writers. We help. We do the heavy lifting. We present your best self to the world. At Fernling Creative, we expand our clients’ influence by creating premium content in your own voice.
We write books, blogs, and LinkedIn. We’re happy to write with you or for you. Either way, we love to make your life easy and successful. My team of premium writers, editors, proofreaders, designers, and translators support our aspiring authors through every stage of the writing process. We often work with clients over time, becoming co-collaborators and friends. Clients trust us with their dreams, then they walk away with an expertly written and engaging book, ebook, blog, or LinkedIn, and we have some new friends. Win-Win.
Our Blog to Book to LinkedIn product exemplifies what we do. This is about writing smarter, not harder. Honestly, it’s strategic creation.
Our ‘book to blog’ method is efficient storytelling at its best. Every blog post is a building block for your future book. We’ll begin with a clear vision of your book and then unravel it, post by post, in a captivating blog series. Engage your audience twice. Double your output with half the effort. When your blog series concludes, we weave the posts into chapters of the book you’ve always dreamt of authoring. Next, the content is reimagined into dozens of on-brand LinkedIn posts. There is no need for the author to be involved! This is content creation redefined – saving time, cutting costs, and maximizing impact. It’s a dual triumph.
This past June, we launched Fernling Press because a well-crafted book is an asset and a necessity in professional advancement and thought leadership. At Fernling Press, we specialize in elevating the voices of high-level professionals, C-suite executives, PhDs, and MDs through comprehensive writing, editorial, design, production, marketing, and distribution services. Our model is designed to cater to the unique needs of esteemed authors who, while investing up-front in the publishing process, retain full intellectual rights and command creative control.
Our authors collaborate with a dedicated team to bring to market books that meet and exceed the standard of excellence. We understand that time is of the essence for our clientele. Fernling Press balances expeditious publishing timelines with meticulous attention to detail in production, marketing, and distribution to ensure that each book achieves its fullest potential.
The journey with Fernling Press begins with a consultation. As CEO, I’m keen to identify projects with significant impact and reach, engage personally with authors to discuss their vision, evaluate the book or concept’s market viability, and navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, all while guiding them through our publishing process with precision and care.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The strategy that has been most effective for my ghostwriting business is to become essential to my clients. My aim is to do such great work that clients absolutely cannot live without me.
I make high-level professionals’ lives so much easier and multiply their productivity. At the same time, they see their dreams of leaving a legacy piece, becoming an author or thought leader, influencer, or pillar in their industry become their reality.
After the first project, clients see how to achieve many other dreams that seemed impossible due to time and responsibility constraints. We keep working together! Then, they tell their friends the good news.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I was a full-time educator. Once my courses were (nearly) perfected, I got bored with the repetition. I hopped into Villanova University for a Masters in Communications. There, I discovered that I liked long-form communication and focused on writing. I asked a professor who owned an international PR firm to oversee my work. In my last semester, I made an offer to anyone I knew who owned a business: I’ll write FOR FREE for your business for four months. The only catch was that anything published could be added to my portfolio. EVERYONE took me up on this. I wrote product descriptions, landing pages, marketing content, about us pages, ebooks, and blogs—total win. I gained valuable experience and an exciting portfolio.
I leaned into longer-form writing—books and blogs— and started side-hustling for pay. My first repeat client was the CEO of a consultant firm. He began to include my services in his client offerings, and the rest is history. Within one year, my side hustle overwhelmed my day job. The first full-length book deal was a double celebration— hooray for the book deal and a prompt resignation.
Since that day, I have had slow and steady growth, avoiding many typical startup pitfalls. I think this is because I was not a kid when I started and had workplace sense. When the time was right, I added support staff: developmental editor, proofreader, line editor, graphic designer, translator, and audio engineer.
This past June, we became a publishing house, Fernling Press.
