One of the best things about video games is the ability to restart – you can use your learnings to move faster and avoid obstacles. We often think about what we would do differently if we were starting over in business and we figured others probably think about this as well and so we asked the community to share their thoughts with us.

Just start making. Get your hands dirty, experiment, and experience things. The best way to learn is to actually do it. It’s just like learning how to swim. No matter how much you practice on your bedroom floor or how many ads you had to skip to watch all the YouTube tutorials, you won’t know how to swim until you literally, dip your toes in the water. But, don’t stop there. Read more>>

Three months ago, I closed my profitable spiritual business and “started over” to build a branding agency. This is my third business in 10 years and I created it using my favorite elements from the previous two businesses (a film production company and spiritual consulting sole proprietorship). If i had to start over and do something differently, I’d say I would be more social and outward when it comes to business. In the beginning, I was very timid to talk about my business and share the ideas I had with others. I’m a reserved person naturally so it was kind of hard changing that mindset to fit the business lifestyle. I would hesitate about a-lot of things and not feel as confident as I should have. I like this question a lot. A part of me says, “I wouldn’t do anything differently because all the decisions that I have made have led me to where I am today. I have tried somethings, I have failed and I have learned from those mistakes.” A different part of me says, “If I had known what I know now before I started my business, how far ahead would I be now? Maybe my journey would have been easier and I would’ve saved myself so much stress!” For sure the one thing I would do differently is stay organized with inventory, pricing, and expenses. Read more>>

If I were starting over today doing all of this from scratch I would put more energy into my ideas as soon as I formulated them. I started brand building and playing around with different business models in this industry back as early as 2013, but could never find the right avenue that just felt right to put all my energy into. I’ve always spread myself across multiple projects instead of focusing on one idea at a time, and I feel that’s where I could have capitalized more on. Read more>>
