Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly West
Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an on-air television personality, consultant, and digital influencer with a B.S. in Apparel Merchandising, an M.S. in Family Consumer Sciences, and graduate-level coursework in Public Relations For Digital Media.
As a CEO and Founder, I was inspired to launch a public relations agency by my passion for helping businesses build a credible brand that their customers could trust.
The best strategy to do this while increasing sales is by creating a reputation that precedes daily business operations.
My love of the fine arts, intense interest in digital media, and passion for people helped me lay the foundations for creating the Kimberly West Agency!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A few of the struggles that I’ve encountered include finding the right customer base and understanding business operations. I have also faced challenges with accessing capital and finding work-life balance!
To keep me on the right track, I have connected with several organizations that support small businesses, found outstanding business mentors, joined a networking group, and completed a few business courses.
We’ve been impressed with Kimberly West Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kimberly West Agency tailors public relations strategies for Birmingham-based businesses and surrounding areas. From crafting a polished image to navigating crises, we orchestrate media coverage, social media engagement, and impactful PR-centered events.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The best advice I have for anyone who’s seeking a mentor is to research individuals who are already on a path you are aspiring to pursue. Do not be afraid to reach out to them! Also, if that particular individual is not available, continue seeking a mentor who can assist with your professional development. Here are a few easy steps to finding a mentor:
1. Identify Your Goals: Understand what you want to achieve and what kind of guidance you need. Be clear about your objectives.
2. Look Within Your Network: Start with people you already know. Colleagues, professors, or industry contacts might be willing to mentor you.
3. Attend Industry Events: Conferences, seminars, and networking events are great places to meet potential mentors. Engage in conversations and follow up with those who resonate with you.
4. Join Professional Associations: Many professional organizations have mentorship programs or networking opportunities to connect with experienced professionals.
5. Use Online Platforms: Websites like LinkedIn, Meetup, and industry-specific forums can help you find potential mentors. Reach out with a personalized message explaining why you’re seeking mentorship.
Luckily, I was able to find a mentor through an organization that assists women-owned businesses. This particular organization reaches out to business owners in its database and encourages participants to sign up for coaching sessions.
From there, I connected with the director who provided advice and guidance. In addition, my mentor has shared growth opportunities, connected me with other professionals, and opportunities for career development.
