Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Mansueto
Hi Rebecca, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From as early as 7 years old I immersed myself into American pop culture particularly dance and knew I wanted to perform in some capacity. When I was 23 years old I made the move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in commercial dance. I performed for some of the greats in the industry including Dick Van Dyke, Nigel Lythgoe, Toni Basil and Paula Abdul. I performed in shows for EPLUS Productions, Universal Studios Hollywood and commercials for Reebok and Sparkling Ice Water. At this point I decided I wanted to delve into theater so I worked for Royal Caribbean Productions and performed the featured roles of Cha Cha and Frenchy in Grease The Musical onboard one of the largest cruise ships in the world. I knew I still wanted to pursue live performance but I no longer wanted to be onboard a cruise ship to do it. That’s when The dream of performing in a Las Vegas show came to mind. A city with an abundance of shows catering to an array of performers. I am now currently in Las Vegas pursuing this dream dancing in a show called ‘A Touch of Burlesque’, ‘After Dark’ at the Bellagio and X Rocks at The Horseshoe.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never smooth! Initially there were financial struggles, particularly as I made the move to Los Angeles and navigating a commercial dance career in a new country as well as becoming an independent adult. As the volume of my dance increased especially with the amount of shows I was performing in a week for Royal Caribbean International I experienced physical adversity manifesting itself in injuries. More recently it has been maintaining both physical and mental well being, Las Vegas is full of opportunity but it’s so important to take your breaks and not get burnt out.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional dancer. Dance is what I am most known for but throughout my career I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to pursue all three performance forms, dance, acting and singing. I’d say I specialize in jazz dance and commercial heels. I am most proud of my role as Cha Cha in Grease the musical Royal Caribbean International and booking three Las Vegas shows within 3 months of moving to Las Vegas. It wasn’t an easy feat. I think what sets me apart is my tenacity, if I have a goal in mind I’ll pursue it wholeheartedly everyday.
What’s next?
My future plans are to book a residency production show in Las Vegas. I’ve already made a huge shift in relocating to Vegas, I have booked 3 shows currently including X Rocks, A Touch of Burlesque and After Dark – an immersive dinner show at the Mayfair Bellagio. Currently I’m performing in Cirque du Soleil “Cirque Dreams” Holidaze show. I’m looking forward to performing our remainder of shows including the prestigious Adrienne Arsht Center, Ziff Ballet Opera House and touring the United States!
