Growing up I either wanted to be a chef, architect, or a dinosaur. Come high school, I met a girl on my track team who was suffering from shin splints. Other than a great moment to spend some unusual quality time with her, and not knowing how I was going to help her, a thought crossed my mind as I was working on her. Before I ever became a nurse or nurse practitioner I was a massage therapist. I once found some unusual lumps on a man’s back and I told him to have them checked out. It turned out that he had breast cancer, but because I told him to get checked out they were able to catch it sooner and prevent it from spreading. He became a good friend of mine and went on to marry the love of his life; both he and his wife were so sweet they even went to my son’s birthday party.
