As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Vacations? Absolutely a must! For me, taking time to step away from the daily grind isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential for growth. It’s during these moments of quiet reflection, free from the noise of everyday life, that I find clarity. It’s like giving your mind a chance to reset and recharge, w

Heck yeah I take vacations. I don’t always plan ahead financially but it always works out. My very favorite thing about having my own business is the flexibility, for my family, my friends, and vacations any time. It’s interesting because working as a designer in the entertainment industry for so long, I hardly took vacations anymore. It was hard to get off early (on time) even! Hah. It’s been great and forced me to kinda bask in my free time for a change. That being said, I took some much needed time to myself to recharge and get those creative juices restored and replenished. Currently I’m back to creating and feeling super optimistic about what’s next. Read more>>

Why is it that those creative solutions come when you are not actually in the work? Giving your brain a break to have white space whether that be just in the shower, taking a walk in nature, or baking your favorite recipe is usually just what you need to allow the creativity to take over. Just like these simple daily brain breaks, it is so important to take a longer vacation and mental break to give your mind and body a chance to recharge. I love to travel and take vacations with my family but I find that the most stressful ones are the ones when I am still trying to clear out my inbox, forward client needs, while also trying to “relax” and spend quality time with my kids. It turns out that we cannot do both. Read more>>
