We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Milton Putman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Milton , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes, I am happy as a business owner. Entrepreneurship has its challenges, but I genuinely enjoy the freedom, purpose, and opportunity that come with building something that creates value and impacts others.
There have been difficult seasons when the pressures of finances, long hours, and uncertainty made me think about what life would be like with a regular job. I remember working long days and nights, balancing multiple responsibilities, carrying the weight of making payroll, serving clients, and trying to grow the business at the same time. There were moments when a steady paycheck and the predictability of traditional employment seemed appealing.
However, whenever those thoughts came, I would reflect on why I started this journey. I realized that I would rather face the challenges of building a vision than trade my purpose for comfort. Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to grow spiritually, mentally, and professionally in ways that a traditional job never did.
Through those experiences, I came to an important conclusion: I am called to build, not just to work. As long as Elohim continues to bless our company, I have no desire to return to a traditional job. I believe the responsibility of ownership, the ability to serve others, and the opportunity to leave a legacy outweigh the temporary security of a regular paycheck.
The greatest insight I gained is that entrepreneurship is not just about making money it is about stewardship, purpose, and trusting Elohim through every season. The difficult moments have strengthened my faith and reminded me that the vision is bigger than me. Because of that, I remain committed to the journey and grateful for the opportunity to build something that can positively impact generations to come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Milton Putman, and I am the Founder and CEO of Complete Dominance Athletics (CDA), a cognitive and physical performance company dedicated to helping individuals and organizations perform at their highest level. My passion for this work comes from my own background as a collegiate basketball player, certified personal trainer, boxing coach, and years of experience working with youth, adults, and professionals. Throughout my journey, I recognized that peak performance is not built through physical fitness alone—it requires strengthening the mind and the body together.
This realization led me to develop an integrated approach to cognitive and physical performance that addresses the growing challenges of stress, burnout, anxiety, physical fatigue, and mental overload. In today’s environment, many people are struggling to maintain focus, energy, resilience, and overall well-being. My mission is to provide practical strategies and training that help people become stronger mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Through Complete Dominance Athletics, I provide cognitive and physical performance programs, workshops, and coaching services designed to improve resilience, focus, energy, mobility, and overall performance. Our services include mental resilience development, stress management strategies, strength and conditioning, boxing and cardio training, mobility and balance training, and performance-based wellness education. We serve youth, adults, employees, organizations, and communities that are seeking sustainable solutions to improve health and human performance.
What sets our work apart is that we do not separate mental performance from physical performance. We believe they are interconnected. Many programs focus solely on exercise or solely on mindset, but our approach combines both disciplines to create lasting transformation. We address the whole person by helping clients improve cognitive clarity, emotional resilience, physical conditioning, and healthy lifestyle habits.
The problems we solve are becoming increasingly common in today’s society. Many individuals experience cognitive overload, chronic stress, low energy, burnout, lack of motivation, physical inactivity, and declining overall wellness. These challenges affect productivity, relationships, confidence, and quality of life. Our programs provide practical tools and evidence-based strategies that empower individuals to manage stress, increase mental clarity, enhance physical capacity, and build healthier lifestyles.
What I am most proud of is the impact our programs have on people’s lives. Watching individuals regain confidence, improve their health, develop resilience, and become better versions of themselves is far more rewarding than any recognition or achievement. Our work is about helping people not just survive, but thrive.
I want potential clients, partners, and communities to know that Complete Dominance Athletics is committed to developing high-performing individuals through a comprehensive cognitive and physical performance model. We believe that when people strengthen their minds and bodies together, they become more resilient, more productive, and better equipped to succeed in every area of life.
At our core, we are not simply training bodies we are developing stronger minds, healthier lifestyles, and sustainable performance for the long term.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life and business came when I made the decision to transition away from the apparel manufacturing industry and return to my passion for health and wellness.
For years, I dedicated myself to building an apparel manufacturing company. I invested significant time, energy, and resources into growing the business and creating opportunities through product development and manufacturing. Like many entrepreneurs, I believed that success meant continuing to push forward no matter what. However, over time, I realized that while I enjoyed entrepreneurship, my heart wasn’t fully in manufacturing.
At the same time, I kept finding myself drawn back to what had always given me the greatest sense of purpose—helping people improve their lives through cognitive and physical performance. My background as a collegiate basketball player, personal trainer, boxing coach, and wellness advocate had shown me firsthand the powerful connection between the mind and body. I saw increasing levels of stress, burnout, anxiety, cognitive overload, and physical fatigue affecting individuals, families, and organizations, and I knew I could make a greater impact in that space.
Making the decision to pivot wasn’t easy. There was uncertainty, financial risk, and the challenge of leaving behind something I had spent years building. But I came to understand that growth sometimes requires letting go of what is good to pursue what you are truly called to do.
That pivot led me to focus fully on Complete Dominance Athletics, where I now provide cognitive and physical performance programs designed to help people strengthen their mental resilience, improve their physical health, and optimize their overall well-being. Today, our work focuses on helping individuals and organizations combat stress, burnout, cognitive overload, and declining physical health through an integrated approach that develops both the mind and body.
Looking back, I don’t see the pivot as a setback. I see it as a realignment with purpose. It taught me that success isn’t just about holding on to what you’ve built—it’s about having the courage to adapt, evolve, and pursue the work that creates the greatest impact.
The biggest lesson I learned is that sometimes your next level requires a pivot, and what may seem like starting over is actually stepping into what you were created to do.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most powerful examples of resilience in my journey came during a season when I was balancing multiple responsibilities while continuing to pursue my vision. I was working overnight hours, running my business during the day, and serving clients while carrying the weight that many entrepreneurs know all too well—the pressure to keep moving forward even when you’re physically and mentally exhausted.
There were days when I experienced cognitive overload and physical fatigue. I was operating on limited sleep, managing financial pressures, and trying to grow the business while remaining present for my clients and family. It would have been easy to become discouraged or abandon the vision altogether.
Instead, I leaned into the same principles that I teach others. I focused on strengthening my mindset, maintaining healthy routines, managing stress, and taking care of my physical health. I learned that peak performance isn’t about constantly pushing harder—it’s about building resilience, recovering well, and remaining disciplined during difficult seasons.
Those experiences reinforced my belief that cognitive and physical performance are inseparable. When the mind is overwhelmed, the body suffers. When the body is neglected, mental clarity declines. I witnessed firsthand how important it is to intentionally manage stress, prioritize recovery, and develop habits that sustain long-term performance.
Today, those challenges have become part of my purpose. They allow me to serve others from experience, not just theory. I understand what it feels like to battle fatigue, stress, and uncertainty, and I know that resilience is built one decision, one habit, and one day at a time.
The greatest lesson I learned is that resilience is not about never getting tired or never facing adversity. Resilience is the ability to continue moving forward with faith, discipline, and purpose, even when the journey becomes difficult.
