We recently connected with Angela Noble and have shared our conversation below.
Angela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Working in the digital marketing industry, with a specific focus on creating websites, we’re often asked if we see DIY website creation tools as a threat to our business. Some professional website designers and developers may see these free or very low-cost solutions as competition. But we see them as great resources for business owners just starting out.
If you’re just starting out, you may be able to get away with making your own website if you’re technologically savvy and can cover the basics of good copywriting and design. In fact, we rarely encourage brand new business owners to make a big investment in a website. If you’re just starting out and you need a simple marketing website as a legitimizer, we recommend you don’t spend more than $5,000 on a website.
Our custom websites range in cost from $10k-30k depending on the functionality and scope. Usually our clients are established businesses and large organizations. Therefore, we don’t see free and low-cost websites as competition at all, but rather as a tool for the folks we’re unable to help in their current stage of business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner (who is also my life partner!) Cris at our first job out of college. We worked at a flavor manufacturing company (think chemists and engineers who make natural and artificial flavors for food and beverage products) in the Chicago suburbs. He was an engineer working in the manufacturing plant and I was on the marketing team. Somehow his desk got moved next to mine and the rest is history from a romantic perspective. From a business perspective, I was doing some freelance work in the year after we met and was hired to design a website. It turned out the client actually wanted to develop a site they had designed, and I knew nothing about coding! Cris checked out books from the library and learned how to build a website in HTML and CSS. While I spent the weekend worrying if we’d get the project done, he fell in love with what would end up being an entire new career for him. It wasn’t long before he quit his engineering job, took and internship to learn more about web development, and eventually became a professional developer. From then until 2019 I built our business and he worked at night to help me with any web development needs. Finally, in 2019, he came on board to work at Noble Intent Studio full time. Since then we’ve been able to focus on larger website projects.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Over the years I’ve really had to redefine what success means to me personally. So many people talk about how to be successful and how to achieve success, but don’t define what that means. Usually, they’re talking about financial success. But success doesn’t have to be about money. It doesn’t have to be about a good portfolio of work, note-worthy clientele, or any of the other things you see hyped up at business seminars, conferences, and on Instagram.
It took me a long time, and still takes a conscious effort to not measure my worth in dollars. Success for me means the ability to stay home with my canine kids and provide a home to foster dogs in need, it means the flexibility to go to community meetings and represent the under-represented in my neighborhood, it means the extra time I can choose to set aside to be involved in leadership roles in professional organizations such as my local business association, it means the ability to take time off unquestioned to prioritize self-care.
Success for me boils down to a flexible lifestyle where I can choose the work I put my time and talent into, choose the clients I work with, and choose to work or not on any given day.
