We were lucky to catch up with Christian Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christian, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
As a child of the 1970’s I was your typical “free-range” child who spent all day outside, drank form a garden hose, and rode my bicycle miles from home while no one knew where I was. I learned consequences, independence, survival, and sense of adventure.
My parents both worked but breathed easy while they were unable to supervise my daily movements, as I did have boundaries. My father would say, “I am giving you just enough rope to hang yourself, if you make poor decisions I will be forced to pull that rope back and you will lose these freedoms you enjoy”.
The fear of loss created boundaries for responsible risk which in turn established pragmatic decision making rather than rash, emotion based decisions which could lead to trouble.
This practice has rippled into my adulthood and has help shape this amazing mortgage career I have today.

Christian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I entered this business because buyers need straight answers. Real estate is the biggest purchase most people make. The lending process is often confusing and bloated. It does not have to be. I saw an opportunity to cut the noise. I stepped in to make the complex simple. I provide home financing. Whether you are buying a first home, securing an investment property, or refinancing your current house, I secure the capital.
The mortgage industry is full of red tape, missed deadlines, and hidden fees. I solve this by doing the hard work upfront. I find the right loan structure. I secure the right rate. I clear the obstacles and get you to the closing table on time. No excuses. No surprises. I am the best mortgage lender in Dallas, Austin, Santa Fe, and Taos (just ask my mother). Many lenders overpromise and underdeliver. I tell you the truth, I do the work, and I close the deal. I communicate clearly. I do not waste your time.
I am proud not only placing the keys in my clients’ hands, but I am proud of the lasting wealth my clients build through real estate. If you want to know one thing about my brand, know this: I deliver exactly what I promise.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The best part of this job is it is never “Groundhog Day”. No two clients are the same, which fills my creative bucket in trying to find paths for not only homeownership, but wealth building as well.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best and certainly most flattering source of business are word of mouth referrals from past clients and Real Estate Agent partners. Knowing your name bubbled up in a warm conversation at a dinner party, open house, or other social event is a wonderful compliment.
