As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Yes, I do travel somewhat frequently, but running a one-man show means planning is everything. The key is to cram as much work—and as much money-making—as possible before I leave.
Before every trip, I email all my clients to let them know I’ll be out of town. It’s a call to action for photoshoots, and most of them respond by scheduling before I go. My clients are incredibly loyal to me and my brand, and that trust means a lot. Read more>>

Lol….. of course I take vacations!! Who doesn’t like vacation? But yes I live a regiment that I’m always working but I’m not always working. And what that means is throughout the workday or vacation, take specific breaks for specific things. For instance take a break just to watch TV if that rejuvenates you. Take a break to innovate or create. Take a break to read. This regiment creates efficiency when you’re working. I don’t believe anybody working all the time on their business makes them very successful. Unless they have crazy merchandise orders and need to fulfill them by a certain time. Read more>>

I am a firm believer of “Living Your Life on Vacation Mode”. This year I decided to make some changes to my professional career and chose to reduce the work load I had and focus more in Quality vs Quantity. This radical change help me be more strategic with my finances and my time and consequently helped me realize that if we do not live on “Vacation Mode” every single day, when we do choose to go on vacation, we wont be present nor would we be able to enjoy our vacation.
