We were lucky to catch up with Eric Earles recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eric, appreciate you joining us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Yes, I do travel somewhat frequently, but running a one-man show means planning is everything. The key is to cram as much work—and as much money-making—as possible before I leave.
Before every trip, I email all my clients to let them know I’ll be out of town. It’s a call to action for photoshoots, and most of them respond by scheduling before I go. My clients are incredibly loyal to me and my brand, and that trust means a lot.
Of course, even on vacation, I’m still working in some capacity. Whether it’s responding to emails or booking new appointments for when I return, the hustle doesn’t fully stop. Balancing relaxation and staying connected with my business is all part of the job.
It’s a lot to juggle, but it works. By the time I get back, I’m not just refreshed—I’m ready to hit the ground running, knowing the next set of opportunities is already lined up.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Eric Earles, the guy behind Double E Photos, a real estate photography business I’ve built from the ground up. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion for capturing moments and details that tell a story. While my journey began with street and film photography, I found my niche in real estate. It allows me to use my eye for detail and creativity to help people showcase their properties in the best light.
I specialize in high-quality real estate photography, offering everything from interior and exterior shots to drone photos and virtual tours. I work with real estate agents, developers, and homeowners to make their listings stand out, making sure each space looks its absolute best for potential buyers.
What sets me apart is my reliability, quick turnaround, and ability to accommodate last-minute requests, which are common in the fast-paced world of real estate. I understand the pressure of getting a property listed and on the market, so I pride myself on being flexible and responsive. Whether it’s a sudden change in schedule or a tight deadline, I’m here to help keep things on track.
What I want you to know is that with Double E Photos, you’re not just getting someone to snap photos—you’re getting a partner who’s dedicated to making your property shine. I’m passionate about providing high-quality images that help you sell faster and for a better price. Whether you’re a real estate agent, homeowner, or developer, I’m here to help your property make an impact.
I’m really proud of the reputation I’ve built and the relationships I’ve formed with my clients. My attention to detail and commitment to getting it right are what I believe make me stand out in the real estate photography world.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Yep, my real estate photography business started as a side hustle and eventually became my full-time gig. It all began as a way to make some extra cash while I was working other jobs. I’ve always loved photography, but it wasn’t until I started shooting homes for some friends in real estate that I realized there was a real demand for quality property photos.
At first, it was just a few small jobs here and there. But as I got more experience and built up my portfolio, I started booking more shoots. I found I really enjoyed capturing spaces and showing them off in ways that highlighted their best features, so I figured I could turn this into something bigger.
It actually took about three years before things were steady enough to make photography my main source of income. A few key moments along the way were when I upgraded my gear, like adding drones for aerial shots, and started offering virtual tours. These helped me stand out and give clients more options. Another big turning point was when I built strong relationships with local real estate agents who trusted me to deliver quality work on time, and that led to more referrals.
Once I hit a point where the income from photography was on par with what I was making from other jobs, I decided to take the plunge and go full-time with it. Since then, the business has grown, and I’ve kept pushing to improve my skills and services for my clients.
Looking back, I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. What started as a side hustle has turned into a solid, full-time business, and I’m grateful for the clients and relationships that helped make it happen.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has definitely been high-volume real estate agents. These agents have properties that are seen by other agents and potential buyers all the time, and when those properties are using my photos, it leads to word-of-mouth referrals. Once I’ve worked with an agent and delivered quality photos on time, they often recommend me to others in the industry. It’s a great way to grow my client base, as their networks expand the reach of my work, and that leads to even more opportunities.
