Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.

Early in my entrepreneurial journey—just a few months in, to be exact—I found myself questioning whether I had made the right decision. I had just finished building an off-grid adventure van for a difficult customer—one who was high-maintenance, unappreciative, and quick to find fault in minor, trivial issues. They accused me of incompetence, demanded money for problems that didn’t exist, and, despite my best efforts, seemed determined to make the experience miserable. I even drove halfway across the country to personally deliver their van, only for them to claim it wasn’t in good enough running condition—never mind the 1,500 miles I had just driven without issue. One of the kindest things someone has ever done for me is simply care for me, both emotionally and physically. As someone who naturally takes on the role of caregiver, and who grew up without much emotional support, setting boundaries has always been a challenge- even now as a professional therapist. I tend to prioritize others’ needs above my own, often at the expense of my well-being. Over time, I began to recognize how deeply this unhealthy pattern was affecting my daily life- especially when I internalized the weight of others’ struggles. Eventually, it led to emotional exhaustion, and, ironically, to letting down the very people that were important to me. Read more>>

The kindest act of service anyone has ever done for me is to volunteer for the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation. Our mission is to change the way cancer is treated and reduce cancer-patient suffering by providing care that is accessible, affordable, and effective. Our volunteers help raise awareness and funds for the cancer-killing technology I developed. Every hour of volunteer work helps us move one hour closer to reaching our initial goal of raising the $10 million needed to begin human clinical trials. Through organizing events, raising awareness, and doing behind-the-scenes work, they show their commitment to The Ora Lee Cancer Research Foundation and the potential to save lives! Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me came from Ms. Phyllis Everette of the Saffron Trust in Austin, Texas. From the moment we met, she saw something in my work—something worth championing, supporting, and sharing with the world. She didn’t just believe in me; she made others believe too. She introduced me to key people, helped me secure funding, and within six months of knowing her, we were traveling to London and Paris together, alongside other women leaders, to experience art that spoke to our souls. In 2016, I was attempting a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. By the time I reached Massachusetts, I had endured every kind of challenge the trail could throw at me: hail, lightening, even a stres fracture. But nothing had prepared me for what happened when I walked into town to resupply and discovered that my debit card had been deactivated. Read more>>

As leaders, much of our work often goes unnoticed or is thankless. We don’t seek recognition; we strive to bring about change. However, it’s always heartwarming to receive appreciation in those rare moments. One of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me was to acknowledge my efforts and leadership. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me happened when I was pursuing my sommelier certification—a path that demanded not only rigorous study but also guidance from those who had walked it before.
The problem was, I didn’t have that kind of guidance readily available. There were only a few people I knew of in my immediate circle who had taken the exam, and I knew I needed mentorship to truly understand the nuances of the test and successfully pass. Read more>>

It’s hard to choose the single kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. My life and career have been filled with people lending a hand, showing support, and believing in me when I needed it most. But one moment that stands out—especially recently—was when Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo lifted up my band, The Vindys, and brought us on tour with them. Read more>>

In October 2023, I had a solo art exhibition at the Amuse Bouche Art Gallery and an artist reception. Due to the well-attended art show, I sold many of my paintings that night, making it a successful event! The support from my family, friends, and coworkers who came has brought me so much joy and appreciation for them! This art exhibit was an unforgettable experience that I will never forget! As a mompreneur, I have a heart for helping kids in learning and education. It gives me joy to see the transformation that happens when a child becomes confident in achieving academic success. One day after a tutoring session, I received a heartfelt message from a 4th grade student I tutored. The following words were, “When I tutor with Ms. Ciera, she helps me become more focused and encourages me. Thank you for helping and believing in me.” CoolSCHoolLearning, LLC® is continually helping children with all the services we provide. We are excited about every child’s achievement with us.
