When we go on short trips we often know exactly what we expect at the end, but when it comes to our lives and careers we’ve seen far too often we shy away from really thinking through where we expect to be at the end and what we hope our legacy will be. So, we wanted to encourage conversations on the topic of legacy and you’ll find highlights from our conversation from some wonderful members of the business and creative community below.

Being a jazz guitarist, there’s a lot of emphasis placed by fellow musicians on purely technical aspects of playing your instrument: how fast you can play, what creative ideas you can play, and how long you can sustain inventiveness over the course of extended soloing. It’s a sort of “Ninja Warrior” discipline in jazz that I fully embraced in my youth. At my core, I’m a very empathic human being and I’ve realized over the past decade, as I’ve changed course, and forged a successful solo jazz guitar career, that music’s primary mission in the world is to meaningfully embrace the souls of those in its path. As a child, I used to daydream often. I spent time thinking about what I wanted to be when I grew up, what new places I would get to travel and visit, and what foods I would try. Unfortunately, over time I feel out of touch with my imagination after being jaded by life. Since becoming a business owner in 2019, I started getting in touch with my imagination again when I was asked during a session with my business coach at the time, “What do you hope your legacy will be?” At the time, I felt like a deer caught in headlights. I had never thought about my legacy. Before, I thought building a legacy was just for the wealthy, rich, and famous. Read more>>

While my personal legacy may be defined a little differently, my professional legacy is something important to me. Photography is becoming something more common place and part of daily life in many respects but I get to capture one of the most monumental days in a person’s life. I have a photo of my grandparents on their wedding day hanging in my office. People may not remember the photographer from the wedding day but they’ll remember the photographs I take and that’s pretty special. My photos will be passed down from generation to generation. I hope the legacy I leave will be based on how many people I positively influenced and helped. I still believe that the more you help people get what they want, the more you get what. My understanding of the BIBLE is that God gave us all a purpose. Again, this is my understanding that when God assigns a purpose, it benefits/ serves others and brings us closer to harmony. On my journey, I had a mentor that ask me a question that stuck with me. He ask me, How do you give people more every time they come in your presence than they did when they came into your presence? When my time here on earth is done, I hope my legacy is one that people remember fondly with a smile on their face. I hope whether someone took one of my classes, did a training with me, worked with me or for me, that they remember how much I enjoyed life and how important it is to live life to the fullest. As I continue to get older, I realize more and more how fragile life is and how vital it is to not sweat the small stuff, to love fully, to be passionate about something, to have fun, work hard at something that does good for others and your family, and to do things and be around people that truly make you happy and bring out the best in you. I hope my legacy goes further than being a gym owner or cheerleading coach. I hope that my impact on my athletes and cheer family runs deeper than just coaching them through a difficult and competitive sport. When my athletes step foot into my gym it is a place of sanctuary for them. They’re safe to show up as they are and we will push them to grow into not just better athletes, but better people. At TRA we teach our athletes what it means to be kind and authentic. We take pride in the fact that we instill honesty, loyalty, integrity, teamwork, and friendship into all of our athletes. Legacy is always an interesting subject to me because it means so many different things to everyone, some see their legacy as their children or wealth acquired or the business empire built. For me the legacy I hope to leave behind is one of joy, service and presence. One of the main reasons for starting Moments By Design was because I wasn’t very present with my loved ones, I was too busy chasing the next big promotion to really sit and appreciate the amazing people I was surrounded with. I hope that in this new chapter of life the people around me feel I’m there for them and interested in who they are and what they have to say. Read more>>

I hope that my legacy will live in my creative food and beverage photography. I have shot for iconic brands all over the country. More importantly for anyone who knows me, has worked with me, friends and family, vendors, fellow humans, I wanted to be remembered as someone that has spent his entire career giving back. I believe your legacy in the people that you inspire and touch. It is not about what we take from this world but what we give back. Read more>>

This is something we talk about all the time… Whenever we hire or train somebody new, the first thing we tell them is that the most important thing about working at the shop is making sure that we are a bright spot in someone’s day. We want every single person to feel welcomed and comfortable. Our space is bright and airy, and the products we sell are colorful and happy. My hope is that when people think of Personify, they think of a space that adds a little brightness to their day. We talk about Personifying your world… meaning we hope the pieces you buy from us make you feel more like YOU. Read more>>

I love this question. My dream and goal for my legacy is to be a woman of quality and substance and darn good art. My Father is an artist , I am an artist and now my two daughters are artists. That’s legacy enough. This is an exciting time as we all embark on a “Three Generation art show in May 2022 at The Douglas County Art and History Museum in Georgia. I cannot wait to enter the room and see my paintings hanging beside my daughters paintings. What an honor. My legacy is that I have taught my children that they can do and achieve anything they want in life. Read more>>

My hope is for continuous internal healing and external growth for all humanity. I help people re-internalize their power and awaken the god within by raising their level of consciousness and revolutionizing how they see their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. My optimal audience is anyone in the pursuit of Wholeness who agrees with themselves to become the best version of themselves. In this rebuilding season, after an unusual and strange era of time following the pandemic, it is crucial to understand the importance of letting go of what was and embracing what is. Read more>>

I hope my legacy is a person that is as smart and intelligent as they are caring. A teacher, a friend, a mentor, a confidant. Someone who is as good of a business owner as I am a person people can go to. I’ve worked really hard to learn as much as I can and I want people to remember me as someone who shared all their knowledge and worked to improve and advance my industry. Read more>>
