When I first started the business, I relied on this concept a lot. I thought that I would be the person in the family that would throw all the parties and they would share it on social media and that’s how I would see initial growth.
None of that actually happened unfortunately. While family has been support in the labor aspect (me paying them to assist during weddings / events) on the “spreading the word” and social media support, it hasn’t shown fruit. Read more>>

We are completely comfortable asking for support from friends and family. As musicians, we love sharing our craft with anyone, especially those we love. We feel it’s appropriate to ask them to show up for shows or share anything we make online. We don’t feel it’s appropriate to expect anyone to buy from us, especially at the stage we are at. Personally it would be awesome if family and friends would support any content and or ideas I have. However it’s important to understand that this is my business, content, idea alone. I feel that when we seek friends and family’s support constantly, we are forgetting the fact that they too have lives to live, ane may also have projects they too or working on. Read more>>

Asking friends and family to support my business has always felt difficult. It’s uncomfortable to ask for help and I never want people to feel obligated. But what I’ve earned is that true friends and family are more than willing to step in when they see you building something you care about.
I wouldn’t be where I am right now without that support. I’ve had friends show up when it’s 100 degrees outside to help unload the moving truck on staging days. It’s not glamorous work but man it makes a difference! My family members have been especially generous, always letting me borrow pieces of furniture from their own homes when I need them!
