Having new or innovative ideas is essential to pushing the world forward and so we asked the community to share stories of the most innovative things they’ve done in their career. Our hope is to inspire folks who think only scientists or tech-wizards can innovate – innovation is possible for everyone, regardless of job title or function, industry or geography.

My community mindset approach to school improvement positively impacted children and families in a marginalized urban area. The most innovative thing I have done in my career was that I had the opportunity to travel abroad; that is one of the most amazing experiences in my life and one that I would love to do again. Educating people about traveling and my photography by sharing my adventures allowed me to develop a community of like-minded people where I get to learn from and inspire them in return. In the summer of 2016 I decided to leave my full time position in design and production working with a local sign company. I’d built up enough freelance illustration and design work over the years and it was time to get out on my own. Just a few days later everything changed, my dominant hand was caught between a rock and a very hard place in an accident on a job site.
