In high school, I already knew I wanted to be a music therapist. My mom had found a music therapy clinic called The George Center (now called Perfect Harmony Health) nearby. I began volunteering there: helping at Camp CreARTive, observing sessions, and more! This only influenced my passion more. I saw how much the therapists cared for each client and how they used music to support them. Each therapist I met showed compassion and allowed clients to be themselves in this safe space. Fast forward to 2019 after completing my internship, I knew exactly where I wanted to work. I worked hard and finally passed my board certification exam. Although that wasn’t an easy route, many other music therapists encouraged me throughout that difficult process. Once I was certified, I immediately let The George Center know of my interest and was hired! The George Center then re-branded to become Perfect Harmony Health and I have continued to cherish this place, where I can share my passion with clients daily by changing their lives through music. Perfect Harmony Health has continued to show the utmost compassion, care, and respect for their clients and this field as they once did 10+ years ago and I am so grateful to get to be a part of that team. I was eager, but scared, to transition from student to teacher at Steadfast and True Yoga. I had a background in adult education, so I knew how to teach, but was anxious about how I would be received. Would people show up? Would they enjoy the class? Despite the nerves, there was a deep sense of fulfillment. Over time, those nerves never left but they have shifted, making space for joy and laughter. Read more>>

It’s been a long road to opening up my Acupuncture clinic just north of Asheville in Weaverville, North Carolina, this year. My first job in healthcare was in 2010, thanks to my friend and colleague, Dr. Eric Grasser, MD who offered me a unique opportunity: a dual role as Ayurvedic Practitioner and Medical Assistant at his integrative primary care family practice. I learned so much more than if I’d just gone into private practice. I learned how to run a medical clinic, take vitals, do a short, effective intake, draw blood, run EKGs, how to work with insurance companies and run prior authorizations, and so much more.
