I have always manage my own social media handles however I have consulted a social media specialist for small business. I felt because of the industry I’m in I needed to have an understanding how to get my services in front of companies or people who seek my type of services. The results of doing so was greater than I expected. My profile increased from 3 thousand followers to over 16 thousand in a very short time. It also put me in front business opportunities which was my goal. The duties and tasks related to my job change quite often, and in order for me to share my days in and outs, I feel that I’m the best to do that. Currently, I manage Covered by Maryam’s social media pages. The company is small, and I am currently focusing on developing the company before outsourcing. Our social media, specifically Instagram is how we directly attract and communicate with our customers, so I am not ready to outsource this yet. One thing that I am working on is posting consistently. That is truly the key to growth. Consistent, good-quality content has allowed our following to grow over 10k within the first two years. I have done both. In the early years I began trying to manage it on my own, and I quickly realized how time consuming it was going to be. That was even in the years before we had video content. I remember in the early years of Instagram it was just about posting pictures. They really didn’t even have to get great pictures. Then it eventually turned into a space where the pictures needed to be great shots that you spent time editing to make even better. At this point I looked at outsourcing all of this to an agency. So I hired a company to do it for me. They sent a photographer to come out and take pictures of my store including eyewear on the shelves, and they also took pictures of the team.
