Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Radomski.
Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, briefly – I got married and moved to NC. After seeing what the area had I found a program nearby for Massage Therapy and enrolled. Glad I did because it was an amazing program. It wasn’t just about learning how to massage (I mean, obviously that was the bulk of it, lol). We learned about ourselves as well as the body, mind and spirit. It was a more in-depth program than the majority of them at the time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Holy nerves after graduation! Once you graduate, you’re on your own. You can always refer and ask your teacher for guidance, but they’re not physically there checking on you anymore. It was both terrifying and exciting, lol! I was fortunate enough to find other therapists who were, in a way, mentors, when I first started. It helped a lot! I think the main struggle, though, was educating people on why massage is so important. Especially when I started, 17 years ago. Most people saw massage as a luxury, and while it can be, it is so much more. It helps restore so much balance to your body, and your mind. So, getting that information out was a little bumpy. We’re not just here to help you relax (although I’m more than happy to help with that if that is your main goal – lord knows we need it now-a-days!), but we can help with post-op, acute conditions and injuries, chronic conditions, and mental health. Just to name a few.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a therapist who adjusts my sessions to my client’s needs. I am very versatile. I think one of the main things that my clients notice immediately as well is that I like to start the session with my clients face up. Most therapists start face down – I can if they want, but I prefer face up. I feel like a relaxing face and scalp massage really helps my clients to get relaxed more quickly and ready for the session. It takes the body sometimes 10-15 mins to fully relax so the massage can really work it’s magic, but the way I do it, seems to help that go a lot quicker! :) I also do a lot more to my client’s neck and upper back area while they are face up. That also does not seem to be the norm from what my clients have told me they’ve experienced prior to seeing me. Which, in my opinion, is just crazy!! lol. Our necks, base of our skulls, tops of shoulders, there is just so much going on there that needs to get worked on!
I’m very proud of my ability to help my client’s be at ease during their sessions. I want every single person who steps through my door to be at peace. Communication is key. It is their session, so I want them to be comfortable speaking up, and I believe I achieve that. Plus, I believe my energy work has a positive affect on every client. It’s part of every session since it’s just a part of me.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’ve worked with chiropractors, personal trainers, and other therapists as well. It’s awesome because we reach out to each other whenever needed and help when we can.
