We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zhariah. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jade below.
Alright, Zhariah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve undertaken recently was my latest track, “Vegas Days.” It was a labor of love that spanned about six months, but the creative journey had its ups and downs over a year. From the initial spark of the idea to seeing the song released on streaming platforms and experiencing the gut-wrenching month where I was so obsessed with people liking it, every step was filled with meaning and emotion. This project holds immense significance for me because it marks a turning point in my career. It was the moment I decided to create something more universal, something that could open doors to bigger opportunities.Im not a very DIY person when it comes to my music process i usually have a DIY spirit with my fashion sense. Crafting my best song in the comfort of my living room with the help of a new friend was a uniquely profound experience.
“Vegas Days” is not just a song; it’s a manifestation of my belief in myself and my talent. It represents my decision to bet on myself and pursue a path where my creative potential could truly shine. Despite the ups and downs and moments of doubt during the production process, the song taught me the power of perseverance and self-belief. And when I finally let go of worrying about whether people liked the song and fully embraced my vision, people really started to stream it. The stream surpassed the 1k mark and I was so busy I didn’t even realize until I randomly wanted to hear it. In the end, “Vegas Days” became more than just a track it was a reminder that my success comes from always being myself and turning my gut as a Generator.

Zhariah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an L A Based Zhariah a performing artist, Creative Director, and Vocalist/overall creative. I have been creating music for the last 5/6 years. I run my creative career as a business and I wear many hats. I make Rock and Pop Inspired Music. My music is Theatrical and cinematic and my art is very important because I am a black woman making alternative music and I bring a unique voice to the industry. I show that there are many different variations of black women who make music and that there is not just 1 look one sound or one way of thinking. I am also a creative Director and I just established that business in 2022. My first project shall be coming out in February\. My goal is to always Bring a breath of Fresh air into every environment I encounter. Whether that is a Stage a Movie Set or a panel. I am so proud that I have been able to get major articles such as Washington Post, Paper Magazine, Vfiles, and Teen Vogue. As well as The Afro Punk Festival as an Independent artist. I am happy that I am in a place in my career where I choose the team and people that are allowed to assist with my endeavors because I have done the work to build it. I am not in a place where I am very vulnerable at this point in my career and I am so grateful for that.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Thr Most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is getting to see ideas come to life. Its true manifestation. there’s nothing like it.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Grants, Grants, Grants, and Synch Liscensing I always knew they existed but I didn’t know the actual process and that I didn’t need to be a visual artist to receive one. I wanted to quit music because I got tired of feeling like I had to choose between living a fulfilling life and creating. and once you’ve been doing music for a while and you get the traction it becomes a job instead of a hobby and not an escape from life so then you look at life as something to experience. Changing my mind to apply for grants and synchs is something I know will bring me more financial freedom and creativity.
