Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zehila Lopez Juarez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Zehila thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?

Personally my parents, I will say. They are the most hard working people I have ever met, and they don’t give up. I admire them and I love them. My parents taught me to see the world in a really unique way, loving life even when it gets messy. Since I was a child, they taught me to love people even when those people were not good. Showing respect to everyone and helping with anything I could. My parents had a hard life, but they still continue living and enjoying the small moments. My dad had to work from a young age, and my mom had to work to help her parents. My parents are everything to me, and I’m thankful because I still have them. They are my biggest fans, including my brothers and sisters. They support me and besides being my parents both are my best friends. I love that I can tell them anything and they give me life advice. When I started to write poetry they were the first ones to know and hear it. At that time I was not the best it was only a hobby. When I did photography, they helped me and supported me to buy a camera. They have helped me grow as a person and taught me that I could accomplish anything that I wanted.

Now that poetry is something that I love, and I want to do professionally. They support me, and also with Photography. I want to publish my book, and they know it. Both know that I love Poetry with all my heart. When I was in High School I had no idea what I wanted to do, it was that time where I didn’t know what to do. I thought that I had to graduate and then start my adult life, but they made me realize that it wasn’t supposed to be like that. They made me realize that I didn’t have to have my life figured out because that wasn’t something possible. That even adults don’t have their lives figured out. My parents are my heros, strong people who lived a lot through the years from a young age. I feel proud of them as much as they do with me.

Zehila , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Who am I, well I’m Zehila Lopez Juarez. I was born in Piedras Negras Coahuila, Mexico, and I moved to the US when I was 12. My life has been a journey, I had to mature since a young age. That made me see the world in a very special and unique way. Since I was little I knew I wanted to write my story, I tried but it was always the same result. Me not writing anything and thinking writing was not for me. When I moved to the US, a lot of things started to happen. I was trying to learn a new language, culture and trying to learn in school what they were teaching. The financial problems at home, and missing Mexico the place where I was born. In 2021 I started to write how I felt. I was tired of a lot of things. I started to be depressed and my anxiety was killing me slowly. The blank pages were my friends, who were willing to listen to what I had to say. That’s when I started to write poetry without knowing at the beginning. I wrote a lot of poems, about depression and anxiety. I wrote about what I was going through. My grammar was really bad, I didn’t know anything about poetry. I was new to writing poems and knowing the rules. Now I am here telling all of you part of my story. It’s the year 2024 and I can say that I’m Zehila a poet that loves to express everything with words that can touch hearts. Express what some people want to express but can’t. I’m trying to publish my book of poetry.

But this is me just someone who loves to show art in every way, with words or Photography. I am Zehila a normal person with a lot of dreams and plans.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

I’m a really creative person, I always say that for me everything is art. For me being creative is a blessing, I’m a writer and Photographer, being creative is a big part of what I love to do. I create worlds with words, stories, and I express feelings. It’s wonderful because there are people out there that may connect with what I have written. It’s special because I can make people feel and imagine what I’m expressing with words. With photography I can capture moments that maybe people often don’t see or want to remember forever. Reading my poems and see the faces of the people, telling me how they connected or helped them see something they didn’t notice. Seeing the smiles that people give when they see their pictures, memories that are going to be there for them to go back and remember how that made them feel. All that is rewarding, it’s a blessing to be able to capture, write, express. Keeping your creativity alive but also of others.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My mission is to make people realize the beauty around us. How unique is our world and also us humans. I want to help people with my poetry to make them feel they are not the only ones that feel how they are feeling. Show them that other people go through hard times, I want them to be inspired, and make them feel that they can do whatever they desire. I want to show them through poetry and pictures their own beauty and uniqueness
