We recently connected with Zeeshan Shah and have shared our conversation below.
Zeeshan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Well, I have shared my personal story in past features here on Voyage Houston so briefly, it was my own medical condition of an autoimmune disease that got me into healthy living. I did coaching for a while and then covid happened. I found that people needed content that would inspire them and help them live healthier and so alongside coaching, I got serious about my Youtube channel and very recently about posting recipes to my blog. I am learning a lot and the feedback I am getting from subscribers across all my platforms keeps me going. I started out on this journey to inspire and educate people and I feel blessed that I am able to do that and enjoy myself doing it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
So I am a Health Coach by profession and a passionate health advocate. I am also a wife and mom to two boys so you can imagine that I stay super busy! Running a business and running a household takes a lot of work but passion keeps me going! My journey started back in 2014 when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition. I have since managed to put most of the symptoms of my condition into remission as well as reverse pre diabetes which I was diagnosed with later on.
Prior to doing this I had adult acne issues, eczema, weight gain (my doctor asked me to lose weight which was a wake up call as I had never been overweight). My research lead me to overhauling my diet and lifestyle. When I saw that food has such a powerful role to play in our health, I knew that I had to share it with others. I started posting recipes on my blog and got my coaching certification. I started coaching women, conducting cooking demos and speaking. I create content for Youtube and my blog because many people don’t have the means to get personalized coaching and this message needs to be shared far and wide.
I also conduct virtual cooking demos and workshops for corporations. I want to make healthy eating the easy thing to do. I share recipes but also lifestyle content especially geared towards South Asian women as I know that a lot of women like me are suffering and I want to empower them to be their own health advocate.
I am most proud of the impact my work has had on women who reach out with such heartwarming feedback. I’ve recently had someone say that my video was just the affirmation she needed to make a decision she had been dwelling on. I’ve had so many women say that I helped them get healthier, clearer skin, lower inflammation etc.
Eat.Drink.Pure is a business built with intention and purpose and I hope that I continue to inspire people for years to come!
Have you ever had to pivot?
I have pivoted after covid hit to creating more content and doing less coaching. I have also started doing more corporate workshops.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There were many doctors and even a dermatologist who told me that food did not play a role in my condition. And if I had bought into that, I would be on medication today. And although there is a place for medication, you can’t negate the effects of processed foods on your health especially as a fuel for chronic disease which is what I and many Americans have today. My commitment to going gluten free and mostly dairy free because I saw the results. I look and feel so much better and that’s why I focus on mainly gluten and dairy free recipes on my blog.
