We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yxng Ched a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Yxng, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Really it all started back when I was having my kindergarten graduation. All my classmates were required to speak into the microphone and provide their answer to “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. Most if not all of my classmates gave pretty common answers, “Doctors, Astronauts, some even UPS drivers. But when I was called up and asked what I wanted to be, I did not hesitate to yell out: “When I grow up I wanna be a ROCKSTAR”. Although my comment was preceeded by laughter, that day really help me with my confidence level, not just back then, but even to this day.

Yxng, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Myself? Hi I’m Yxng Ched (pronounced young ched). Formerly known as Chedda or Chedda Musik. I live in a small town in Kansas with a population of 350 people. I started my music business back in 2014 doing covers of popular songs and collabing with other artists to make some little projects. Released My first solo project in 2018 called “Tuned with Emotion” which kinda stepped my career off in an awkward direction. People used to laugh at a young kid trying to make himself a name in a small town. They would tear my concert posters off the wall, break my cds by stomping on them, and even post my music clips on their snapchat stories telling people to go dislike my new album.
I mean that’s just scraping the surface of what I’ve went through starting out but I’m not looking to speak on sad things. Let me talk about some of my achievements.
In 2020 I released an album called “I’m Still Here” with features Jehry Robinson of Strange music, Amber Farndon and B.Millz. This was my first album to reach over 50,000 streams.
I also opened up for Tech N9ne in September of 2020 in Urich Missouri!
In 2021 I decided to take my career to a whole new level. I was doing over 100 shows and was rocking with some of the best artists in the KC area.
I also released my most recent and my most popular studio album titled “Love Me Before They All Do”.
This album has garnered over 400,000 total streams since its release and contains some of my biggest hits such as:
“Like its Your Last Night”
“Crib in Miami”
“Loves me Not”.
This album also has been picked up by major spotify Playlists and has been selected to have some tracks be in a netflix movie in 2023.
I think something that sets me apart from the others in my genre is that I’ve helped pave the path to becoming a successful independent artist all by myself! I never had friends that gave me handouts or shared my music to anyone. I worked my butt off to become the person I am today. And I’m still very thankful for everyone who listens to my music or supports me in anyway shape or form. I am forever indebted to you all.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I feel most people would say something along the lines of “I just want to be the biggest artist, the best of the best and have so much money that my account is filled with commas”
But nah. As much as money and fame is appealing, I just really wanna mean something to someone. Whether someone listens to my music to help cope with their emotions or just likes the way my voice sounds or how the music is composed. I just want to be somebody’s everything.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Your friends are not your fans.
That was a real hard one for me to understand and unlearn. I had so many facebook friends and snapchat friends that I would constantly send my music to and I just noticed that more and more were pending because they were tired of seeing me try and promote My new single or whatever. Grizz Lee and I actually talk alot about this about how people that are your friends are not your demographic. Now there are some super supportive friends out there don’t get me wrong. But most of them could care less.
