We were lucky to catch up with Will Von Bolton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Will , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I see us as a species of specialists and nature chose me to be creative.
Imagining the stability, routine, and predictability that come with a 9-to-5 job can be appealing but I’ve found ways to balance my creative pursuits with freelancing and consulting on projects that provide a stable income.
I am truly happy as a creative, and the occasional curiosity about a regular job only serves to remind me of the unique path I’ve chosen. It’s a path filled with challenges and rewards, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Will von Bolton, a photographer and author based in Dallas, Texas. My journey into tour and music photography began back in 2009 when I had the opportunity to work with Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights, who were opening for Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of touring more than 38 countries and collaborating with a diverse range of artists, including R5, Jesse McCartney, Bowling for Soup, Electric Touch, Blue October, The Roomsounds, Paul Cauthen, Leon Bridges, Gary Clark Jr., and many more.
One of my creative projects is DONTSHOOTMYFACE, an anonymous nude project that serves as a first principle study celebrating the beauty and design of the female form. By omitting the face from the imagery, I aim to encourage viewers to reflect more deeply on their own perspectives and perceptions.
In March 2022, I had my first fine art exhibition and live photoshoot at Samuel Lynne Galleries on Dragon Street in Dallas. Since my debut, my artwork has resonated with people from coast to coast, and my pieces have been sold and shipped to art enthusiasts across the country.
Additionally, I am the founder of BECOMING CONSCIOUS, a project focused on developing an operating system for the mind. This modern philosophy consists of a collection of 2-9 word, memorable, and compatible concepts designed to assist individuals in navigating their decisions and unlocking their unique potential. You can learn more about this project at BecomingConscious.com.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Creativity is everywhere, whether it’s the way we capture moments in photographs or how we organize data in spreadsheets. To nurture a vibrant creative community in our society, it begins with individuals and their social circles.
Friends and acquaintances can play a significant role in supporting artists and creatives by offering encouragement, promoting their work, providing resources, and advocating for arts education. It’s a collective effort to ensure that artists and creatives continue to thrive in a changing landscape influenced by technology and AI.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
The first principle of NFT is provable scarcity in a decentralized database. The first push of this technology introduced a lot of doubt and fraud which led to the crash.
I believe something like NFTs will exist, but may need some time to educate and rebuild trust in society.
