We were lucky to catch up with Wilameana Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Wilameana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on has been the Peace Walk and Peace Talk with the Trayvon Martin Foundation. When I first met with Sybrina Fulton, my intention was simple: I wanted to present concepts for new hoodies and merchandise because I had just opened my printing company, Prime Print Global. What began as a creative pitch quickly became something much deeper.
During our meeting, I realized that Sybrina needed support beyond merchandise. Her sister—who had been an integral part of organizing the Peace Walk, Peace Talk, and the annual gala—had recently passed away. I stepped in where I could, eventually providing PR support, printing, T-shirts, and social media management. What I thought would be a single project turned into something much more meaningful.
When you think about Trayvon Martin’s name and the global impact it carries—the fact that Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin had to rise in unimaginable grief to become a voice for children everywhere—it hits differently. They stood up not just for their son, but for the right of Black children to walk freely without fear of racial profiling or violence. Over time, they became a central figure in what the world now knows as the Black Lives Matter movement.
Fourteen years later, the Trayvon Martin foundation is still standing, still fighting, and still supported by the community. To help capture moments that will live on as part of Black history forever is an indescribable honor. I’ve been blessed to assist the foundation over the past two years, building a strong relationship rooted in love, purpose, trust, and impact. I truly believe God used me in a way I didn’t originally anticipate, and because of that, this work remains the most meaningful project of my career to date.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I originally started my career in the music industry as a rapper(lol), while simultaneously pursuing my education. I began at Florida A&M University and later graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree. During that time, I secured an internship with OutKast, and that experience solidified my desire to build a career in the music industry.
With a degree in Journalism and Public Relations, I spent several years in Atlanta developing my craft as a rapper and building relationships in the industry. After gaining experience on the Atlanta music scene, I made the decision to return to Miami to establish my presence locally. I performed at open mics, worked to build my buzz, and quickly realized that local artists were not receiving airplay on major radio stations—only underground outlets were supporting them.
Wanting to change that, I created my own radio show designed to break local artists’ music, including my own, while also spotlighting artists who were buzzing in the streets but overlooked by mainstream radio. I began interviewing emerging artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives, and unexpectedly, my interviews started gaining more traction than my music. Artists wanted the platform, the exposure, and the conversation.
This led me from underground radio at 89.1 FM to creating a highly successful online radio show, “Wilameanas World,”which eventually caught the attention of Rick Ross. I went on to work with him and his company Maybach music group. Specifically on the Rather You Than Me and Port of Miami 2 projects, where I handled social media management, created digital campaigns, contests for fans, and supported overall digital marketing efforts.
At the same time, I continued working independently with artists, providing PR, social media management and marketing services. Also as a brand ambassador for Belaire, while hosting my internet radio show Wilameana’s World, a platform where artists, entrepreneurs, and business owners could share their grind and their journey toward success.
Through working closely with creatives, I noticed a recurring need—everyone needed merchandise, branding, and printed materials. That realization ultimately led me to launch my own printing company, Prime Print Global.
Today, I wear many hats: media personality, creative, marketer, content creator, brand ambassador, public relations and business owner. Some might call me an influencer in my city, but I see myself as a true Renaissance woman—someone deeply rooted in hustle, creativity, and execution. I take pride in my work ethic, my integrity, and the quality of everything I produce. My reputation matters to me; my face is clean, and my work speaks for itself.
I’m extremely ambitious and thrive when I have multiple projects in motion. Creating, building, and bringing ideas to life genuinely fills my heart—and no matter the task, I’m committed to getting it done.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I remember applying to 99 Jamz and 103.5 The Beat while my show was performing extremely well. Everything seemed to be lining up. People in the industry were congratulating me in advance, telling me I was about to be hired at 99 Jamz. The momentum felt real.
At one point, the program director even saw me outside at an event and told me to come by the office so we could talk. I truly believed I was finally about to step into traditional radio—something I had worked toward and considered one of my goals.
Then, unexpectedly, everything shut down. Communication stopped. I never received an explanation, and to this day, I don’t know what changed. It was disappointing, confusing, and honestly could have been discouraging.
But instead of letting that moment derail me, I kept going. I chose to create my own lane.
Rather than waiting for permission or validation from major radio, I continued building my platform independently. I found myself in the same rooms, attending the same concerts, covering the same major events, and working alongside the same artists that mainstream radio stations were connected to—without being tied to them.
That experience taught me resilience. I learned that success doesn’t always come through traditional doors. Sometimes it comes from trusting your vision, staying independent, and continuing to move forward even when things don’t go the way you expected. I was able to maintain my independence, generate income, and keep making meaningful moves—and that, to me, is real resilience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing something you planned and executed come to life in real time. There’s nothing quite like that feeling. Whether it’s conducting a major interview with an artist, producing an event and watching all the moving pieces come together, or creating merchandise and seeing people proudly wear your designs—it all carries the same sense of fulfillment.
That feeling also shows up when you build a strategy from scratch, execute it, and watch it work, or when you create content and receive feedback that lets you know people feel connected—like they’re in the room with you or part of the experience. Knowing that something you created resonates with others and brings them along for the journey is truly the best feeling in the world. I wake up every day wanting more success. I love evolving! Even after losing my mom I know God is with me ordering my steps. I know that he has more in store for me.
I am excited about the woman I am becoming. I am grateful and thankful for life and what keeps me going is I know my mom would want me to keep making my dreams come true.
Lastly, advice to the young world coming up. Keep writing your vision and making it plain it shall come to pass. Don’t give up. Create a path for others to follow. Don’t chase, attract. Love is greater than hate. Protect your energy. Peace is priceless and remember it’s always business, neva personal. 😘
Cheers 🥂
