Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Widlyne Desir. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Widlyne , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
I started in 2015 with bodywork and from the start I wanted to run my own business. My vision was to work on professional athletes and be a well known body worker in my city. When I told this dream to one of my professors at the Shiatsu school I was attending, he told me that I needed to dim down my dream to be more realistic. My very first job I had in this field I was working on and high level professionals and professional athletes. I had to contact the school because I wanted to further my education in sports medicine/massage. I needed my transcripts to continue and so I told the school about the job I had just Ianded with the athletes. The professor who told me to dim down my dreams made it so hard for me to get my transcripts to the point that I had to report them. I have had a lot of hurdles that I had to jump over like the professor I mentioned above. When somebody tells me I can’t do something I always have had the attitude, ¨Oh I can and your going to watch me do it big¨ has always been my motto!
Never listen to the negativity that others try to throw at you about your dreams! Dreams are meant to come true, it just depends on how much work you want to put behind it to bring it into fruition. Never give up and failure is a good thing, points you in the direction you need to go.

Widlyne , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
How I got into my industry was, my life changed drastically, it got ripped from me. Due to my skin color I got blamed for something I had nothing to do with. It damaged my career as a Mental Health Practitioner. I then became homeless and depressed with what the world was throwing at me. I left the state and focused on rebuilding my life! I figured out that I would serve the world best if I could heal individuals naturally some how. I knew that my hands were gifted from God because I have many talents. I can play almost any instrument you put into my hands but I can’t read a note to save my life, I can cook almost anything you request if I can see what its supposed to look like at the end. My top gift I have, is healing people with my hands through bodywork. I’m what you call a serial entrepreneur, I manage 7 different businesses 6 are under Desir Holistic Therapy entity and the 1 is for another cooperation I work for.
I use Chinese Medicine (Shiatsu) to gage the meridians all over your body to break down what’s wrong, Reiki and Cranial certified, Sports Medicine and Advance Sports Medicine Massage and Doula are where my expertise lays at. Depending on what my client is seeking is how we together decide what type of health and wellness services they might need.
I have healed clients from carpal tunnel (wearing braces) Migrains (chronic ones that Dr.s have told them that this is just how their life is going to be) Snapped calf and hamstrings injuries, clicking ankles and knees, Range of motion correction, and one of my favorites assisting a couple with delivering of their baby.
I’m most proud of the fact that no matter how many people have tried to ruin my reputation or discredit what I do or my business, or have told me to settle or lower my fees just to get business. I always stayed true to my self. I know my worth and what I provide. I invented by accident an all natural ointment that I trademarked (my lawyer said its so easy to make that we should make it into a trade secret.). It’s multi-purpose, it fights pain and inflammation, melatonin with a kick, Natural vapor rub, and I have heard it attacks cancer cells and glaucoma. Its just a topical ointment that when you add an essential oil to it, it will magnify what the essential oil already will do by itself. Little kids all the way to elderly can use it and no it don’t have one drop of chemicals in it.
I have recently stuck my big toe into a Vlog Log- It has been one of my fears and I can’t stand the fact that I tell others to conqueror their fears and I´m sitting over here scared of the camera. So I had the idea to turn my fears into a Vlog, show my fears and weirdness to the world because I am who I am with a kick and a smile.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The best advice any of my mentors have told me was who you know when your building a business. You need to find one grand networking group that meets a couple times a month or join 3 different networking groups that meet once a month. The more people you know the better it is to get your business out to the public. I´m in a networking group that I am a Chapter Success Coach I manage 5 different chapters with an average around 100 people with all my groups put together Now just in my city there are around 100 different chapters that you can network in. Its international so I could technically do business overseas. This is my one networking group I am a part of. I always have people approaching me asking me to join their networking groups, I visit other groups but its too hard to join them as well because I have to be intentional where I put my energy because I do so many different things in the health and wellness world.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Just recently October 2024 I lost my car, those who know me know that that could of been the end to my business since I have a in home business I travel to my clients. I started cried for about a week and then i remembered who I was and who has my back. (That big person above, told me wipe your tears and lets get back to it). I have been in a rental since October 2024 busting my tail and still making things happen. It is 02/06/2025 and I´m smiling and thriving! Moral of the story is nothing is too much or too hard to conqueror you just have to remember your power and sometimes go silent from the world so you can think. Get the (I can´t, Its too hard, I always have to go through this, bad Sh**t always happening to me¨) sayings out your mind and tell yourself ¨Ï GOT THIS!!
Failure is never bad it is a compass to tell you to redirect yourself and go. Failure is key to success if you never fail your not taking risk, then your staying at the same elevation and you will never reach your potential. So I’ll fail 100 times to just win on that 101 time because that´s the blessing I have been working so hard for.
