Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Whitney Gerstner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Whitney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
I think the kindest thing my friends and family have done for me has been when they were there for me when I was pregnant with my daughter! And after she was born too, they all celebrated her and were so excited to see and meet her. And my friends were very happy for me and so immensely supportive, physically and mentally. From checking in on how I was doing to showering my daughter in gifts for her arrival. The kindest things they’ve done have been for my little family!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
People often ask me how I ended up combining graphic design, photography, Reiki, sound healing, and marketing into one career path. The truth is, creativity has always been at the center of everything I’ve done.
I’m a graphic designer with over 15 years of experience and a marketing professional with more than 8 years of experience helping organizations, businesses, and brands tell meaningful stories. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with nonprofits, small businesses, and community-focused organizations to create visual identities, marketing campaigns, photography, social media strategies, and content that not only looks beautiful but creates genuine connection.
At the same time, I’ve always been drawn to the healing arts. As a Reiki Master and Sound Healer, I’ve spent years exploring the connection between creativity, energy, intuition, and personal transformation. What I discovered is that design, photography, and healing are not as different as they may seem. At their core, they are all about helping people feel seen, understood, inspired, and empowered.
Today, my work lives at the intersection of creativity and healing.
Through graphic design and marketing, I help businesses and organizations communicate their message clearly and authentically. Through photography, I capture meaningful moments, personalities, and stories. Through Reiki and sound healing, I help individuals reconnect with themselves, reduce stress, and create space for personal growth and alignment.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend strategy with intuition. Many people focus solely on the technical side of creativity or solely on the spiritual side of transformation. I believe both are equally important. Whether I’m designing a brand, photographing a family, creating a marketing campaign, or facilitating a healing session, my goal is the same: to help people uncover and express their authentic essence.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building a career that reflects all parts of who I am. For many years, I felt like I had to choose between being a professional and being a creative. Eventually, I realized that my greatest strength comes from embracing both. Every experience I’ve had, from years in design and marketing to my training in Reiki and sound healing, has shaped the way I serve others today.
I want potential clients, followers, and collaborators to know that I care deeply about creating meaningful experiences. I believe creativity is healing. I believe stories matter. I believe people thrive when they feel connected to their purpose, their voice, and their authentic selves.
Whether you’re looking for creative services, photography, energetic support, or simply inspiration on your own journey, my hope is that my work helps you feel more aligned, more empowered, and more connected to who you truly are.
At the end of the day, everything I create is rooted in the same intention: helping people bring their vision to life and reminding them that their story, their energy, and their unique gifts matter.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the most helpful thing has been to be an active listener and to give space to those I’m with in order to share their vision or goals for a design/sharing the hard things that are going on in their life. I go into every conversation with genuine curiosity. How can I make this person feel seen or heard or help them feel validated but also empower them. Whether that’s talking about their design ideas or their life goals, it goes hand in hand to where listening and giving safe space is offered.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to really pivot when I gave birth to my daughter. The most earth-shattering and strongest thing I’ve ever done is give birth to my daughter, at home, with my husband and midwives. Postpartum took a huge toll on me, my body, and my mental health. For a long time after I had my daughter I lost my identity and felt so lost. I wasn’t sure what to do other than be her entire world. I’m forever grateful for that time and to continue to be her mother because to taught me about my inner strength. I continue to learn from her every single day, she’s my entire world and every decision I make is wrapped in how I can be a better mother for her.
