We were lucky to catch up with Wallace Wong recently and have shared our conversation below.
Wallace, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I am a one man show with Six Pack Chef’s social media platforms. I am the creative, the videographer, the photographer, the editor, the talent, the copywriter, the community manager, the PR, the direct communicator with audience and brands etc.
I do it all.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The thing that helped me build my reputation within my market of Food & Fitness is authenticity, talking about things I actually know and have experience in and being involved with the communities and groups within the market.
I’m an active fitness athlete and am involved in the current trends of the bodybuilding and fitness world. I am actively engaging with people and also sharing my personal knowledge with people.
I’m an active chef who uses social media to showcase all things food and drink to my audience. I show tips & tricks, I make and create recipes that are trending or on theme with the world, I also am watching and learning amongst peers about industry topics, individuals and trends.
I do this EVERYDAY. This is because it’s something that’s part of my everyday; as a result the things I share, show, say or offer are always received as something that is authentic to myself and my brand of SixPackChef.
Any advice for managing a team?
Advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to always think and see the situation from the perspective of your team. As much as you are the “boss”, you actually work for your team.
You got to also remember they are people with lives and that their life is not founded on your company so thus you need to also see what are things happening in their lives that you can use or help with to show support and help them perform better and be happier at work
A happy and motivated team is going to the success to your company and brand. By seeing things from their perspective, you can provide solutions, offer insights, give incentives and bring support to them for things that they actually care about and matter to them.
Giving out $25 gift cards for coffee to a team member for doing a great job is worth nothing if that team member has been extremely burnt out from deadlines and planned to go to a concert on a Friday but you asked them to stay late to finish something.
That might be a bad example but the general thing I’m trying to say is that find what are the Tylenols to your teams everyday problems or areas of conflict and give that to them vs giving them Vitamins. One is needed and one is a nice to have. The needed one will always trump the nice to have and will have exponential impact on your team.
