We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vonté Malone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vonté , thanks for joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Well the first time I made money from my music I was really excited it wasn’t much but .. I was able to NOT only see what I was doing was the right path but also it let me know that if i work hard enough and put in the maximum effort I can actually quit working and make music full time for my self and that my hard work really did pay off

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
So I made my first single in 2011 it wasn’t the best but I was proud of my self I really didn’t know what I was getting my self into but I was ready and I was willing to learn and take on any challenges I had coming my way and it also made me hear real with my self like hey you can sound way better than this but I had to work harder and really be honest and willing to work on my craft at that point in time
What set me apart is me .. I am one of a kind I move how I feel and want .. I strive to all ways get the best or work toward the best and I love seeing my self grow with out trying to compete with any body
One of my most proud moments was when my single reached 50k+ streams on Spotify and seeing my name amongst other big artists
I want people who follow my journey and my music to know that every thing is always from my heart and soul and I would never give any thing less and that to follow your own dream and don’t wait on any body go out there and get it !

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is seeing people enjoy what you created and that it actually reached people and that they were able to find the same vibe I did as I was making. It
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think people think all this stuff is done over night and that things just happen but they don’t it really take a lot of hard work and effort and people helping to create things and make them come to life
