We recently connected with Viana Ramos and have shared our conversation below.
Viana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I have had many “regular jobs,”
Being a business owner gives me a level of freedom, creativity, and ownership that would be hard for me to find in a regular job. I like being able to make decisions, build something that’s mine, and see the direct results of the effort I put in.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Baking has always been so much more than just making desserts for me—it’s a way of showing love and that’s the feeling I want to bring into my business.
What started as a passion for baking gradually grew into something much bigger. I realized that in a world where so much feels rushed and mass-produced, people still crave the comfort and connection that comes from something made by hand and from the heart. That’s what inspired me to turn my passion into a business.
What sets my business apart is that I don’t just focus on how something looks or tastes—I focus on how it makes people feel. My goal is for customers to take a bite and be reminded of the warmth of home, of family traditions, of someone baking for them simply because they cared. I want my baked goods to bring comfort, nostalgia, and joy. Even for people who may not have those memories, I hope my treats create that feeling of being welcomed, cared for, and loved.
What I want people to know about my brand is that every order matters. Behind every cookie, cake, pastry, or dessert is a real person who genuinely cares about creating something memorable. This business was built on the belief that food has the power to bring people together, create lasting memories, and make people feel loved—and that’s the heart of everything I do.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came unexpectedly when I lost my accounting job three months after starting. At the time, it was a difficult situation because I suddenly needed to figure out how I was going to pay my rent and support myself and my daughter.
Instead of dwelling on the setback, I turned to something that always come naturally to me—creating in the kitchen. I began dipping chocolate covered strawberries for Mother’s Day and selling to anyone willing to buy. What started as a way to make ends meet quickly became something much more meaningful.
Through that experience, I realized that baking wasn’t just a hobby; it was something I genuinely loved and something that brought joy to other people. It also taught me that passion alone isn’t enough to build a business. Success requires discipline, consistency, resilience, and a willingness to keep going even when the outcome is uncertain.
Losing that job felt like a setback in the moment, I cried a lot while working there- it was so stressful! but it ultimately pushed me toward a path that was far more aligned with who I am. It gave me the opportunity to build something of my own and create a business centered around bringing comfort, connection, and a sense of home to others through my baking.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Because my products are baked fresh, I personally develop and produce the recipes rather than outsourcing manufacturing to a third party. One of the most important parts of my business has been recipe development—creating baked goods that not only taste great but also consistently deliver the quality and experience I want my customers to have.
When I first started, I didn’t have a formal manufacturing background. What I did have was a passion for baking and a willingness to learn through trial and error. Many of my recipes went through countless rounds of testing, tweaking, and refining before they ever reached a customer. I spent a lot of time adjusting ingredients, techniques, and baking times to achieve the flavor, texture, and consistency I was looking for.
