We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Verena Lake a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Verena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Helping a commercial photographer reactivate her email after not being in communication with them for a few months.
She already had a list of over 500 people, but engagement was super low. She was also building her debut course and she needed hands-on support to bring her vision to life. I was the first team member that she ever hired, and she was the longest-standing client I ever had, so that was very special.
To achieve the BIG end goal of launching the course, we first had to regain the trust of her subscribers and get them accustomed to hearing from her regularly again.
Which we did over almost six months, so by the time the course launched, she made over $30,000! Such a huge win for her, and I’m just so honored that I got to be a part of this very special journey in her business– launching her first digital product and teaching new photographers how to make their first six figures in business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m a copywriter who specializes in launch emails. I help visionary CEOs create cash-generating communication systems that give them both peace of mind and the flexibility to focus on the bigger, needle-moving tasks in their business.
My clients are the trailblazers of their industry. They are big thinkers with a very limited time, and so they understand the power of delegation. Most of them are great writers, but they would rather reserve their energy and time for the things in the business that only they can do– showing up on social media, pitching to new clients or business partners, having meetings with vendors, doing the one-on-one work with their clients, etc.
Most business owners know the importance of persuasive messaging, but not enough actually take the time to learn and/or invest in getting it implemented for their business. Especially in this AI age, where a lot of copy is regurgitated and so robotic.
So through an intentional, research-driven approach, I create funnels to help my clients build a profitable community and boost their profits with a clear, repeatable messaging strategy.
This year, I dived into the live event space while searching for meaningful connections with other businesswomen. Now I host Consistent Connection, an intentional gathering to give trailblazing women like myself the fruitful connections and faith-centered empowerment they need to feel limitless and fully supported as they scale their businesses.
Our debut event was April 4th 2026 and our next one, under the theme Bibles & Blankets, will be this summer on July 18th at Maggie Daley Park, Chicago.
Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see highlights of our past event and see what’s in store for you when you join us at Bibles & Blankets. You can also join our WhatsApp waitlist channel for VIP access and BTS content.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
I moved from New York to Chicago to officially start my engineering career after graduating from Penn State in 2024. Since the beginning of my college days, I have always envisioned myself working my dream job and running my business simultaneously.
Things absolutely did NOT go as planned. Moving to another state was a lot more life-altering than I had anticipated. It took me a few months to get settled into my new home, and after that transition, there were a lot of suppressed emotions and personal matters emerging. Because now my mind was finally quiet enough to address them since I was no longer thinking about buying new furniture or finding my way around this new neighborhood.
Business understandably had to take the back seat and I was consistently missing sales targets. Which was very discouraging to the point where, towards the end of 2024, I was seriously contemplating quitting my business.
But during that time of soul searching, I began praying a lot more, seeking Jesus. I encountered Him one Saturday morning, and He told me to keep going in my business. I’ve been pressing forward ever since.
And so in moments where I’m tackled by doubt, fear, worry, or anxiety, I go back to that Saturday morning in November when Jesus told me to keep going.
Those two words have resurrected my passion for business, and I’m so thrilled to see where this journey leads me. I want to see how good it gets.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My excellent customer service and people-first approach to client relationship management.
I am known for my encouraging spirit and heartfelt care for my clients because I’m genuinely curious about them and root for their well-rounded success– both in and out of business. I like to see my people win!
That’s why I go beyond the surface-level coffee chat questions whenever I have meetings with my clients. I actually listen, which seems to be a lost art these days.
Too many service providers unfortunately do the bare minimum. Whereas I am such a friendly person with amazing customer service. I’m not afraid to ask deeper questions, and if a client reveals that they’re having a hard time or life is getting crazy for them… I encourage them, give helpful solutions, and check on them later to see how things have progressed.
And on top of that, I am just genuinely masterful at what I do. God has blessed me with an amazing writing gift that activates and inspires people– make them feel and see the grand vision.
My clients have told me that I have a really good knack for transforming their social media content into highly engaging emails or website copy. Which again stems from my genuine curiosity about people.
I always study my clients when I first start working with them to find out:
– How do they speak?
– What is their story?
– What do they want to be known for?
– How can I make their emails sound like you’re having a face-to-face conversation with them?
Authentic stories from the heart are what have and always will set me apart.
