Velvet , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Our first album was our most meaningful project so far. It has a combination of three years of our ideas compiled into one long project. Recorded and mastered to our highest available quality and recorded and mixed in four days. It’s all of our first recordings to be released and it broke the seal on what we thought we could accomplish and a group.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We are Velvet Daydream, we’re a rock and roll band from Denver, Colorado. We got into writing music after listening to rock and soul music all our lives. People know us for our bombastic live show, and our writing style blending vocal harmonies, rock and roll, funk, soul, and pop. All of us are 100% dedicated to the music and when you see us live you’ll know what I mean.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Playing it live! Seeing the people dance to our music, giving all the energy I have into making the music as good as it can be, and feeling people react to it is unlike any other feeling. Live music is what keeps us going as artists and propels us to improve our craft.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Our social media base was built primarily on resilience. Every post we make is another shot at meeting more people. By posting frequently, and up to a high enough standard of quality to represent ourselves well, we give our brand more opportunities to grow. Our TikTok was the first social media platform to see significant growth after we filmed us playin the guitar solo from our single ‘No Eyes’ coming out of an 87 Ford Crown Victoria filled with smoke. All of our short form vertical video we crosspost to Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts to triple our odds of successful pull. By curating a consistent aesthetic with enough frequency to appear in our target demographic’s algorithm, we’ve found more engagement.
