Tyress, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.

When starting from nothing, you have to give in order to get. I was very confident in my skill set but it needed to be showcase. One thing I learned quickly is that people love free things and they like to brag about it. So I called 3 friends and a family .

I gave them a proposition . I told them that I would wash their car for free as long as I could take a picture of the final results. It was a sweet deal for them and me. And that’s how Mirror Affect Car Wash began in a driveway

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Tyress Cunningham born and raised in Rockford, Illinois
I’m the owner of one of Rockford’s best car washes in the city. Mirror Affect
I’m also the proud author of two published books titled Conflicts of Intere$t and No Hope. I have both books in paperback and audio.
I take great pride in cleaning cars and being a positive fixture in my community. People come from different places and cities to experience the Mirror Affect.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Building up my business is a 24 hour/365 day task. Sometimes no sleep because of thinking of how to make the business better or how can I make the customers feel like there wanted and appreciated.

There’s never a time that I can relax because I always want to become better at providing the best service at a low cost and stay committed to my morals.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

I also work a full time job as well and run my car wash. My car wash was my side hustle but it’s working it’s to the first and my full time job is becoming my side hustle lol.
